Except for the part about Sergei being a bum. Yeah the Sergei who fought Briggs get taken out quickly by Ibragimov but the version who beat Brewster and Guinn would be a good fight.

I agree, well put. He was a tune up for Brewster, and Brewster was out of shape, was blind in one eye, and probably a bit worn from his other fights. I was never impressed with this guy, and I had my doubts about him beating Briggs. But his name is out there, so I don't think we heard the last of him yet. He'll probably get another shot at the WBO in a year or so (not to say he deserves it).

not only that, but i think the fight with one eyed brew took a lot out of the white wolf. i think he should stay away from big punchers, especially juiced up ones like shannon briggs. i know briggs is ****, i really didn't expect him to win the fight, but the "cannon" has confidence now, if he were to rematch the white wolf he'd come out swinging wild right away and hit sergei with the force of a 270 lb man on steroids and seriously **** him up next time. the white wolf is gonna have to work his way back up. people gave him too much credit for barely beating an injured brewster

Sergei needs to fight lesser opponents he can dominate to build up his confidence again. If Lyakhovich fought Briggs three times, Briggs would win all three times.

**** rematching Briggs. Sergei has a lot to prove, and there are a dozen or so competitive matchups out there waiting for him. PLus he is a name now, and can draw more media/ fan attention than some others in the Top 15. What about Sergei vs. Peter? or Brock if he loses to Klitschko?

i agree he only fought in the 12th round ... till than all he did was staying in one place and getting hit with some jabs..

Rematch? No. He obviously wasn't ready for the mantel of "champion". He should have to face a tough slew of journeymen and fringe contenders on ESPN2's FNF's to show he can handle pressure before being allowed to fight for a title again.

Um it seems Sergei is a mental midget. No other reason. Briggs was there to be beat and Sergei did nothing and got KTFO for his troubles. Lance Whitaker, Ray Austin, Timor Ibragimov, Sultan Ibragimov, Gerald Nobles would all beat Briggs
