Let's have them post one Floyd Mayweather article a week on the biggest political site in the world and see what happens?? People go to BOXING sites to read about BOXING, PERIOD. There is no place for politics on ANY of them. There has to be a LINE. I am in the process of writing my boxing book right now..if someone buys it do you think they want to see 15 paragraph sections on my view of Bush, Iraq, Bin Laden, etc? I am sure they do not.

Wdf? Where did all this hostility come from?

You know that nobody is forcing you to even go onto that website let alone read that individual article, right? If the website choose to have a political article on their page then that is their choice, and people have to respect that, as regulars to that site. If they dont then they can easily close the website down and move to another.

Im guessing something has happened in America recently with all this talk of ********s taking over the house and Rumsfeld stepping down, which makes the article all the more relevant. Political discussion at a time it is topical.

Freedom of expression is vital to any democracy. Saying "its a boxing website, it shouldnt have political discussion, this is way out of line" is plain wrong in my opinion. This is a boxing site and a lot of politics is talked here. Not just governmental politics, but also the politics of this sport and the world.

Anyway enough of me, but long live freedom of speech.

But politicians are WILLING to use sports figures to further their CAUSE .. If I buy your book about boxing it better be about BOXING.. You are right.. again its about CHOICE.. no one was forced to read his article.. but you are wrong..I come to this site ultimately to read about BOXING.. BUT you know as well as I do lots of NON boxing talk goes on.. I choose which threads to read and when on the HOME page I choose which artilces read..

You don't buy Sports ILLUSTRATED to read about Knitting, you don't buy Newsweek to read about cartoons and you dont buy movie magazines to read about homeless kids in Africa.

Scully, if I buy your book...and I plan to....it's because I want to know about Iceman John Scully; and if you throw in 15 paragraphs on your political views, that gives me a broader picture of who you are as an individual, and not just who you were as a boxer.

So yeah, I'd buy it and be interested in reading it.

Hell, I've read articles about everything under the sun AND boxing on this site. It's cool though. If it's well written I'll probably read it.

I don't talk politics, too touchy of a subject and i am not informed enough to do so...on occasion in the book I talk about a few off beat things..only a line or 2 at a time..stuff in the diary section, like one day not long ago I was behind a guy at a lightin anice car andhe threw his McDonalds trash right out he window onto the ground.... that shows a severe case of IGNORANCE when people, grown ups at that, do that.

If u havent noticed there is a very popular NON BOXING section on this very site.
People want to talk about different things.

I dont understand why u cant see how its YOUR CHOICE whether u read an article or not.
I mean, ur talking about just ONE article right?

Under his thinking that means a boxing writer, if he feels like it, can flood cyberspace with articles on religion, politics and race or any other subject along those lines anytime he feels like it? NO. I think it is almost comical when people get so into politics (or race or religion) because these types of subjects turn them almost like followers of a cult or something. All that matters on these subjects is their opinion and they will cross any lines to get it out there.
I got mad love for Thomas Hauser, he's a great writer and one of the last mohicans as far as columnists who were throwbacks to the days of Jimmy Cannon and Gay Talese in the New York area. There is one column here that mixes boxing and politics, I made a thread 2 years ago cuz it was out of place.
