Briggs lost to fighters who's reaches were similar or better than his own. If you get inside Briggs or are able to reach his chin more than likely you will defeat him. Sultan will not be able to reach Briggs therefore he will lose. Same goes for Lyakhovich. His reach was 6 inches less than Briggs so Lyakhovich was afraid to move in because each time he did, he got countered so then he tried fighting Briggs on the outside but his reach kept falling short of the mark.
