I just wish Larry would have really insulted him then Floyd doing that would have been more justified AND beautiful I think, I hate to say it too, but I think Larry was about to make a good point and got his legs taken out from under him before he could.... maybe in a way it was just payback for all the times he unfairly put fighters on the spot.
You don't answer questions from boxing fans that seek your knowledge of the sport.

I dunno John, I think Mayweather got schooled there. The "you're a commentator stick to it-That's what I'm doing Floyd, I'm asking you a question" was a pretty big victory for Merchant. Mayweather only offered the lame "you're not a fighter, you can't ask these questions".

Merchant's job after a fight is to ask questions like this and get to the point that everyone is thinking of, not cheerlead and jockride the fighters shamelessly. That's why I love him as a commentator. He's the old grouch that has a problem with everything. We need people like him in the world to point out all the bull****, especially in a sport like boxing where bull**** and lies are everywhere.

Mayweather is full of himself. He's the best figher of his time but so was RJJ and neither ever came close to accomplishing what Greb, Ray Leonard or Robinson, Benny Leonard, etc did. He's completely delusional at this point and any time he tries to claim he's the greatest of all time I have to laugh at him. It's funny. Him crying after beating Baldomir as if it were a career defining fight is funny. Baldomir is much worse than Carmen Bassilio, who is far from the most impressive notch on Robinson's belt. Baldy is not even a Gene Fullmer to be honest.

No offense to Mayweather, he's got serious skill and talent, but his resume is a joke compared to Harry Greb or Ray Robinson. He's like some brilliant young highschool kid thinking he's smarter than anyone in Harvard just because he never met anyone close to his intelligence in his hometown. Mayweather's great, but not THAT great. He has a ****load of work on his hands to even break the top ten P4P.

I hear what you're saying. Merchant can be very disrespectful to boxers if they don't live up to his standards. He loves Blood N Guts fighters but Mayweather isn't & has never been that type of fighter.

Floyd should have just said 'yeah it was entertaining' or 'it was a great demonstration of skill' or whatever and kept it moving. That guy can't handle criticism.

Jack..I answered the question IN DETAIL, what are u talking about? Larry has good points sometimes, sure, but his WAY of asking questions is a turn off the guy being asked. You have to understand that boxers like that, they deal with media types like Larry all the time so they know how two faced many of them are etc. YOU only see whats on your TV, you dont see what happens behind the scenes

I'm talking about my thread about what if you were Baldomir's trainer.
