yeah, i would almost agree with that. thing is, just try to imagine who briggs/king would pick for a title defence. tony thompson, matt skelton, or worse - maybe somebody outside of the top ten in the wbo.

hey i gotta object here buddy, i think tony thompson would beat shannon briggs.... there are a lot worse names on the don king roadkill list that will be offered up before someone who actually won impressively in his last bout...

honestly, everyone should know that mike mollo will be getting a title shot for knocking out mcbride.... and hell probably one for davarryl williamson since he beat mollo before he slayed the giant...

If anything, Briggs seems like he's very eager to unify. He really wants the fight with Wlad and I'm willing to bet he'd take Valuev on in a hearbeat.

briggs should've known that signing with king would put more space between him and klitschko than anything else. if he doesn't know that, he's dumber than i thought.

you're right, there are worse fights available. having seen a little over a decade of don king putting fights together, i really have come to expect the worst when he's in the driver's seat. i'd expect him to match briggs with somebody that he will look impressive against. then, try to boost shannon's stock by making it seem that everyone is ducking him. i've seen it over and over and recognize the pattern by now pretty well.

i just hate that don king has a bit more control now.

thompson is a 6'6 lefty, he punches very well in combination and fights very well inside for a tall man.... in his win over dom guinn he landed 42 percent of his punches in a 12 round fight and he threw a lot of them.... while it may imply that he lacks power to me it was moreso that he was smart and knew he had the fight won without taking chances.... that being said you he doesent need power to beat briggs.. if he landed on shannon at any rate he would wear him down fast and take him out..... i guess im kinda tooting the tony thompson horn on this forum right now, ive been doing it for awhile, i just think that though he is under the radar (no amateur background, pro at 26) he is on level with brock, igbraminov, chagaev


i think the main thing working in favor of briggs/klitschko is how much more money briggs can get from fighting wladamir.... no matter how you cut it hed not gonna get more than 750k-1mill making a bull**** defense while a uni fight with wlad could be worth 2-3 million.... briggs is looking for the $$$$$ maybe this time don king can just be bought and to hell with the options...
