    .

Well, that's just ******. But seriously, there are enough naturally light skinned models in Manila that those who "whiten" their skin will be found out rather quickly. Those that told you (you said exchange workers? I already know the type) that story are jealous that they don't have lighter skin. I've heard this before and its typically darker skinned women who aren't happy about themselves. Take it with a grain of salt.

It is true in most parts of Southeast Asia and pretty much most of the former Spanish colonies, lighter skinned women get the press and not so much the darker ones. Look at the Mexican day time drama shows. Most of them are light skinned.

There are by far more light skinned women in Mexico than in the Philippines. Wait! Was that the topic?

Majority of Pinoys are brown skinned belonging to the Malayo/Polynesian race. There are many Meztisos though with heavy spanish blood. My father side is straight up Mestizo and speak spanish fluently. There are also alot of Chinoys, Chinese Filipinos that are light skinned. Philippines is a melting pot of cultures so to speak, we were under spain, japan, and the U.S. for awhile as well as being a migration point for many other people. Alot of Pinoys that I have met have roots from India even. Not mention the original inhabitants, the Negritos who are black. I have noticed too that alot of Pinays bleach their skin, which I think is messed up. However, it doesn't mean that if you see a light skinned Pinay, like the models you guys were talking about, that she bleached her skin. I think we have been conditioned to think that lighter is better and not just with Pinoys. Even African Americans, I have noticed, prefer lighter skin and straight hair.
