I wouldn't mind Floyd fighting Margarito, but he wants to defeat future hall of famers and legends. Beating De La Hoya or Mosley would be big. If he fights Margarito it wouldn't be a big name on his resume if he wants to compare it to other fighters.

Defeating Oscar would be big since Oscar has fought better competition.

I think his corner secretly injects him with caffeine between rounds to keep him moving so great. And during training they threaten him with **** sex to make sure he keeps on his game plan.

I actually thought the very same thing about margarito at some point.

it seems like a lot of ppl think he is entitled to a fight with Floyd. Some of these ppl think his past performances justify it. But I am sure some dont even know who margarito fought

Its like this, "who did Floyd Mayweather fight to get his shot at Genaro "Chicanito" Hernandez?"

Margarito has been beating a lot of contenders, prospects, and veterans to get him a title shot. Its not about how famous a fighter is its about what he can do. If you don't think Margarito is any good then you missed the boat. If Margarito is not that fighter i think he is then he will lose to Clottey or to Williams or to Cotto. Margarito would give hell to Floyd and Floyd knows this. Floyd wasts respect from hardcore fans, imo, he needs to take that risky fight and fight Margarito. It don't have to be on ppv, the can show it on Hbo, but now i know Floyd will never fight Margarito. And Margaritos name will come back and haunt him, especially when Margarito becomes the "Kingpin" at 147.

what bugs me a little about pbf, he has outclassed most of his opponents, this much i think we can agree on.

now, my problem - if he says that none of these current fighters can compare to him, etc, why doesn't he up the competition and go after bigger, better fighters.

he could move up in weight and fight the top guys at 154. or how about moving down a notch and fighting corralles again, castillo, or hatton at 140?

seems like he doesn't want to fight in competitive fights, doesn't it? i'm sure he could find more interesting prospects at other weights. still, he could always fight cotto or margarito at his current weight.

i really think he's afraid of losing and he wants to keep his unbeaten record as long as he can even if it means not fighting the tougher competition out there.

I pick Margarito over Clottey, and I havent seen Williams against anyone relevant . So its hard for me to pick Williams over Margarito.

Cotto skills are vastly superior to Margarito's, but his chin is not. So that's a very good fight, while it lasts. (and it will probably be a unification bout if it happens before either fights mayw.)

If Mayweather wants the respect of hardcore boxing fans he should fight Margarito? maybe of mexican boxing fans... I and many others want to see him fight hatton. we already know why we disagree on that...

mayw got his shot at GH, because

              1. he was an olympian robbed of a gold medal,
              2. he was GH's highest $$$ option.
              3. he never lost a fight before his shot.

Marg cannot claim any of the above

I dont understand what would you find wrong in Marg fighting Williams (his mandatory) before Mayw

Just so you know Margarito would KO, Hatton. All Hatton has done at welterweight was beat, barly beat Collazo. For some reason he didnt' want to stay at welterweight.

mayw got his shot at GH, because

                1. he was an olympian robbed of a gold medal,

                1. Floyd was not robbed of his gold medal because he never fought for the gold medal. Recent fighters that were robbed of gold medals are Ricardo Rocky Juarez and Ricardo Williams.

                2. Acutally he can probably may as much or close to as much money with Trinidad.

                3. Mayweather has a lose to Castillo.

I have no problem Margarito fighting Williams, thats a fight he'll have to take. But this doesn't remove the fact that Margarito is taking a step back in fighting Williams. Margarito has already fought the prospects. Williams hasn't beaten a battle tested fighter yet, he couldn't even ko, packu even after landing a hundred punchs. Beating Williams wont get Margarito closer to Mayweather but it will get him close to dominating the welterweight division. One, by one, Margarito it taking them all down.
