Floyd Mayweather: "Oscar De La Hoya Will Never Be A Legend Like Me"

Oscar fought him quite some time after the Trinidad fight. De La Hoya was robbed big time against Mosley in the rematch. Sweet Pea was a close fight and I dont think Whitaker won, Quartey did not win and if the same ending would have happened today any ref would have stopped the fight. Forget 10-8, the final round should hav been 10-7. Quartey had the fight on the table until he left himself open in the final round. Against Trinidad he was robbed again.oscar has fought top talent no doubt, BUT vargas was just destroyed by tito and wasn't no where near the same, mosley beat him twice, quartey should of got the win, sweet pea should of got the win, sturm should of got the win, he went out like a ***** against b-hop, and tito well more like payback for all the bull**** decisions oscar got. so in closing oscar has fought top comp but didn't fair to well in my book.
The only legit losses were Mosley 1 and of course Hopkins. I though he lost against Sturm, but there are those that think he won. Ever fight he was in he was competative. **** he did better against Hopkins than Glen Johnson, Antonio Tarver or Felix Trinidad.Comment

I do think Oscar De La Hoya had an A career, but that Mayweather had an A+ career. Mayweather not only beat, but he dominated every fighter he ever faced. De La Hoya was a much more flawed fighter, he was vincible where Mayweather was invincible.Oscar fought him quite some time after the Trinidad fight. The toughest fights of Mayweather's career were supposed to be Corrales, Judah, and Baldomir, and he dominated them all. True, those guys aren't as good as Quartey, Whitaker, and Mosley, who De La Hoya struggled against, but Mayweather had a sizeable strength and size disadvantage against all of those guys, De La Hoya was bigger than everybody until 147.Comment

Your history is wrong. I cant believe you left out Castillo. He never dominated Castillo in either bout and almost everyone thinks he LOST the first Castillo fight.I do think Oscar De La Hoya had an A career, but that Mayweather had an A+ career. The first fight was close, but I still feel Mayweather won, the drama really came from Mayweather's own internal discomfort of the physicality of the bout. For the most part, Mayweather was landing the crisper blows, where I didn't see Castillo getting in with many clean shots except late in the bout. Early on it was all Mayweather. It was close, but I think he earned a razor thin decision, but if you factor in the champions benefit of the doubt, thats where the controversy lies.
The second fight was a clear decision victory for Mayweather, and nobody is perfect, remember that. I think that people have unrealistic expectations sometimes, like the folks that thought Ali was garbage because he had a tough time with Doug Jones.Comment
