Briggs WON this fight.. not because of what BRIGGS did.. BUT because of what Liakhovich DIDN'T do.. I dont think Knocking out an disintrested scared out of shape guy means too much... I dont think Briggs could beat either of the other Champs.. I didnt Think he could beat Liakhovich .. But I picked Briggs anyways.. Just on a hunch... I would have NO SUCH hunch if he faced Klitschko.. and seriously doubt he could UPSET Valuev or Maskaev

Unless its a complete bum, Briggs loses his belt in the next fight.

Briggs has all the personality in the world and would make a great comic book hero, or professional wrestler....the Incredible Pineapple or Goldie-Knocks or something; but his performance on Saturday was a disgrace.

Sorry, I can't get into a guy that doesn't give it 100%. If Sergei had been half as confident agaisnt Briggs as he was against Brewster, he'd a beat him.

I think we need to give Briggs a little more credit in his win. He discouraged S.L in the first round by landing that counter left hand to the head. S.L. was able to land the right to the body at will against Brewster but I think once he saw that he was going to get countered it made him timid. He felt Briggs power & didn't want to open up too much. Briggs probably will lose to an active heavy sooner/later but give the man some credit for carrying his power to the 12th (which no one thought he'd make it to, myself included) & took him out with a counter right hand.

I have to admit Shannon showed decent speed and very good timing in that last round. But where was it all night? I'm rarely a fan of the big heavyweights as they almost always lack the fire to do what they need to in order to win, unless it's absolutely neccesary. Compare that to a Louis, Marciano, or Dempsey who punched with bad intentions from the first round.

I can't do it, man. Lyakhovich looked like a man on the way to the gallows before the opening bell even rang....and Briggs was waaay too inactive. If you're fighting for any verson of the World Championship, make me believe you want it! No, he was choking as he always does in a big event; but this time, his opposistion was choking harder. Both men had stage fright....Briggs just happened to punch harder and be just a little less scared of the event than his opponent. Sergei was terrafied of the event AND Briggs...that's why Shannon won. If Sergei had even half the confidence in this fight that he had in the Brewster fight, he would have beaten Briggs.

The event got to him as much as Briggs's power, IMHO.

If Briggs plans to be as active against Wlad as he was or wasn't against Serguei Lyakhovich then he's in for a big surprise. Wlad is no Lyakhovich and for evey inactive second Briggs shows Wlad would be blasting him with jabs.

I couldn't agree more with this statement. Briggs is in for a wake up call if he thinks he's going to get that same lackluster performance Sergi put out this saturday. There's no way Emmanual Stuart wont come in with a game plan. All wlad has to do is pop him with jabs all night then crush him with that right hand of his. Briggs will gas out out.

Sergeis reach was to short for Briggs, in order for Serge to land he had to get close to Briggs and he was still winning the fight, all he had to do was stay away from Briggs in the 12th round, Briggs hands were down the whole fight and a fighter like Klitschko would have made him pay for it...
