ali started saying he was the greatest when he had much less case than floyd has now. in fact he was hated by many boxing fans at the time.

robinson was a $$$hungry prick, too.

I can hardly tolerate floyd's talking about money and money only (I wish he fought and did not give any interviews), but I am not in his shoes, and how many ppl in this thread know how it feels to be a pro fighter AND make 8figures? my guess is none.

So thank you for the "generosity and fighting heart" lessons but none of us are entitled to teach that class.

Now understand this, I'm a fan of PBF but after watching his interview on ESPN with Brian Kenny yesterday I lost some respect for him. He said he's better than Sugar Ray Robinson and Ali, and when Kenny asked him how is he better when those guys fought way more than him. His answer was, it takes three months to build a paper view fight they couldn't pay me 10 million to fight every month. Personally either he's a dumb ass or he's just so hungry for money staying busy doesn't matter. Fighters back in the 60's and 70's fought like hell without all of this advanced medical technology and workout equipment. If Mayweather is basing his worth as a fighter off of how much he makes a fight he is truly a lost soul.

I do believe that Mayweather will go out being on par with them, but he won't be better than them because he\is heart hasn't been tested, and I don't think he has the internal fortitude of those guys.

I agree, Robinson was amazingly gifted and those who realize that may be very familiar with his work. Ray though brash, had heart and business wit, Mayweather has skill, business wit but his heart is full of hubris; he does not care about making history at this point of his career when he's at his prime, and I say this because he much rather build massive amounts of wealth than build an immortal legacy. What a shame.
