Why isnt Juan Diaz a household name?

He is a very good fighter. Excellent hand speed. Throws nice combos. Gives you max effort for 12 rounds. He is fighting this weekend, but no one is really talking about him.

Well it all depends on where you live...In certain parts of the world Juan Diaz is a very common name heard in many households.

Example: Mother calling- Juan! Juan! Juan Diaz!! Supper Time!!!

    Hope this answers your question.

Seriously now Juan Diaz looked really good against unbeaten Jose Miguel Cotto and deserves more opponents.

Very underrated atm, I think it's been the quality of his opponents, the fact that he hasn't been in a 'mega fight' yet, but he's an excellent talent.

Yeah, maybe this weekend helps get his name out there.

For a young fighter he is not as active. He only fought 2 times in 2005 and hopefully he will get more fights.

I think Juan Diaz needs a hype machine kind of like what HBO did to Miguel Cotto.

Yes, Diaz is a very good fighter but I think he lacks the "superstar aura" that can take him to the next level. You just can't explain why he doesn't have it.

A victory against a marquee opponent with the likes of a Corrales or a Barrios can open up a lot of things for him.

Probably not a household name because he hasnt beaten anybody of enough note to make him one.

                Never heard of him.

In Britain the only true household names from boxing are Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Frank Bruno, Chris Eubank.

(The next category would include the likes of George Foreman, Henry Cooper, Alan Minter, Barry McGuigan, Amir Khan, maybe Sugar Ray Leonard.. Marvin Hagler, Nigel Benn).

I used to dislike Juan for some reason but there is nothing not to like about the guy.I wish he had a little more power but other than that he is a very good all around fighter and very fun to watch.
