As i've said in the past, people will talk about Margarito years to come.

Thank the top fighters for building "The legend that is Antonio Margarito" if was there lack of fighting Margarito that has made Margarito in the "Most feared fighter in the Welterweight Division." Just take a look at how the "higher" fighters wanted to fight him, yet they brought no legit deal, again people talk about fighting Margarito, but nobody really wants to fight him unless they have too.

So why didn't Margarito make them an offer rather than just settling for Clottey?

Who cares about Clottey? Clottey does absolutely nothing for Margarito's career. He will get a lot of **** if he struggles at all. Clottey is a nobody and has beaten nobody...

I haven't looked at his record, but if Williams can get credit for beating Martysee, then Clottey can also get credit for beating Guiterez, which proved to be a tought opponet then Martyssee. And Clottey was acutally beating Baldomier before he got disqualified.

Clottey is a guy who should be fighting on ShoBox. He's a prospect who hasn't beaten anyone. The fact that Margarito picked this guy for an opponent just makes it obvious he's ducking any real challenge. Matthyse wasn't a great win, but at least Paul Williams dominated. Clottey struggled with Gutierrez and barely won the fight...

Since you want to bring up fights from the 90's, don't forget Margarito lost to Victor Lozoya, Larry Dixon, and got dominated by Rodney Jones...
