    The Mayweather-Leonard Debate!

I think most of you are missing the point on this. 1st off I remember when this dinner 1st happened, everyone reported Floyd as mostly just joking with Sugar when he said that stuff and they were both talking trash to eachother.

However, for arguments sake lets just say it was true. Again, Floyd doesnt look at himself as you guys do. He's not going to talk up to Leonard like he is better then him. He is a man just like him & Floyd wants to be known as the greatest of All Time. Why should he have to kiss Ray's ass? There both fighters & near the same weight classes.

However, this is the biggest thing that all of you missed. Ray Leonard KO Floyd's dad. At the time of that dinner, Floyd and his dad were kind of cool with eachother. Even if they werent cool, its still his dad. Think about that. Are you going to be kissing a guys ass he KO your dad? He KO his dad, was famous, and considered a All Time Great. You know that probally since he was a kid, Floyd has always wanted to kick Ray's ass and or be better then him. He probally hates it when people say that Ray is better then him but he wouldnt be that upset if they said someone else was better then him.

You cant look at it from the outside. You have to put yourself in his shoes. Imagine if Ray KO your dad, imagine if you were now considered the best guy in the sport and maybe one of the best of All Time. You wouldnt be kissing Ray's ass either. Also, have you guys heard Ray talk before? He's ****y and talks **** too. Again, it was 1st reported as more of a joking thing and Ray said that everytime they see eachother they argue about who would win if they ever fought and Ray says that Floyd was much too small for him.

If you want Floyd to be humble then your barking up the wrong tree. He wants to be great and I dont see anything wrong with that. Like he said, he's in the game to be the greatest who ever lived, bar none. He's not going to look up to Sugar Ray. Also like I said, its not a respect thing because Floyd always brags on guys like Sweet Pea and others who have came before him. It has to do with Sugar Ray beating his father and he also comes from Michigan which probally makes him a Tommy Hearns fan so he probally always rooted against Sugar Ray.

Still, I think Floyd was more joking with him and they were going back & forths. He's been compared to Ray his whole life and has probally hated it. Everyone telling him that you fight like Ray and now you have to act like him when the whole time he probally wanted to be nothing like Ray or twice as good as him

Nice take. I'll admit I didn't think about that angle.

    Good observation.

It's possible, but that taints his professionalism if it's true, even though it's just speculation.

In all honesty I was never a PBF fan cause of his strong character & moral values, I think well all know he's one ****y son of a *****(to be as good as he is I'm sure it's hard not to be). Whatever he does or says outside the ring will always come second to how well he owns the ring when he's inside of it(at least for me) & IMHO he never disappoints, I'm probably gonna pay $50 just to see how well he can dismantle Baldomir, haven't decided yet though.

I watched that fight (SRL vs Sr.) and as I remember senior was competetive. It wasn't a KO...it was more of a stoppage (somewhatpremature IMO). But then again im not sure...it was the 70's.....LOL

Yeah, I know and that makes it even worst. Just think that your dad almost beat Sugar Ray but no one ever cared about that. They just gave Sugar all the props & boosted him up

good point. Mayweather can say whatever he wants, and I respect him more for that. anybody can sit there and tell Leonard he's one of the GOAT, but only a few guys have the balls to say they are better and the ability to back it up. Mayweather is the man.
