I was responding to El Jefes comment that Chavez said lets give him a rematch. You have to admit that waiting Five years helped Chavez bet him easily the second time. Also check out how long Chavez waited to fight Randall the third time after arguably losing twice. I am not knocking Chavez, but this tactic is pretty su****ious to me. He waited till they were washed up in the game before giving them a chance in a rematch.

Blame Duva for the rematch not happening sooner, and blame Duva as well for a rematch between Whitiker and Chavez happening.
As for the Randell thing, King wanted Randell to bring another title to the table, so he gives him a title shot at Juan Coggi and if you remember this trillogy, then you remember it is the same scenerio with the Norris inccident. In other words this fight with Coggi tied up Randell for 2 years, -looked it up at boxrec- so finally Randell wins the title and talks of a rematch with Chavez beging, then what happens, he loses to Khali Rahilu, so no rematch takes place anytime soon.
King figured Randell would keep the title for a long while he was wrong, and King also didn't expect Coggi to play hurt in his fights with Randell.
It's not Chavez fault King wanted Randell to get even more fame then what he already got when he defeated Chavez. King was thinking BIG ppv numbers for their 3rd meeting by building up Franki Randell and getting him a title. It didnt workk out that way, Randell lost his title. And Chavez went on with his career.Comment

Of course no doubt,
as far as him as a person I would say the negatives were during the down slope of his career. And it has happened to many fighters it seems to me. In ascension to his status he was very humble, honest etc....
after the early 1990s it was all downhill from there.... he became an alcoholic, he said idiotic things, one in particular really hurt me as a fan of his. As a person.
I will say he has restored himself in my eyes though, through his actions of helping other fighters achieve the heights. He has stopped drinking etc.
And what really got to me was, after the Morales vs Pac II fight, Morales was in a WBC convention where he was being honored for his actions in the ring (I forgot what) and Chavez said, Viva Morales the best Mexican fighter ever. Or something like that.Comment

Thats wat made him a great fighter. Not how long he waited to give Taylor a rematch.
The only reason the rematch was so significant was because Taylor fought an amazing fight, yet Chazev still knocked him out.Comment
