In order for QUARTEY to win:

-I dont know if he'll have much of a chance with the jab. His jab, or any quartey punch for that matter, is all power. But Winky has a big reach advantage. Stick to countering and throwing constant one-two combinations. Keep winky's guard up and look for an opening to the body or head. Easier said then done obviously...

-High output of punches: You arent gonna land to many punches flush on Winky Wright, but judges scores rounds on activity, and he can pull off some close rounds simply by throwing a lot more punches. An old quartey might have trouble with this, but he didnt have much stamina trouble chasing forrest around for 10 rounds. we will see though.

-Nobody is backing up Winky Wright. Thats what every fighter is told to do against a southpaw. Baldy was able to do it against zab judah and he won. But if the younger Jermain taylor and the power punching Felix Trinidad couldnt do it, Quartey has no chance. He has to stick to countering Winky's right jab with a looping left hooks. And he must throw punches in bunches.


In order for WRIGHT to win:

-Jab: Wright has one of the best right jabs in the sport. Hes gotta walk straight forward and nail Quartey with a right jab any time quartey attempts to jump on the inside. When Mosley tried to get on the inside, he was frustrated time and time again by winky's jab. look for that to play a big role on december 2nd

-Beat Quartey to the punch: If Quartey goes with a high-output attack, which i think is his only chance at really winning, then Wright should try and stop that by starting all the action.

-Winky is a righty in everything other than boxing. Thats why hes got such a great right jab. But he also has an outstanding right hook. Quartey likes to press the action a lot as well, and if he trys that against wright, he could get nailed with some powerful right hooks.

and id like to say that Wright has very underrated power, combined with rediculous accuracy. IMO, another absolute clinic isnt anywhere near out of the question. ANd quarteys face will take a beating.

The left hook is a hard punch to land on a south-paw .(de la hoya vs sweet pea)

I'm going to give the chin advantage to winky. Taylor has to be the strongest guy winky has faced and winky did take lots of clean shots and didn't go down. Ike got dropped by oscar and almost was knocked out in the 12th of that fight.

The reason taylor gave winky a tough fight is because he used his size and power to break winkys D. Ike does not have either size or power.

My prediction and people will call me crazy but I say winky will get a late tko.

Here is why. Winky beat speed(mosely) he beat an accuret power puncher(tito) he beat an unorthodox fighter who came in at crazy angles (sam) and he had a draw againts a stronger younger fighter(taylor)
Normally winky stays with in him self but he has to have a big confidence factor with him after those fights. And compared to those guys ike should be a walk in the park.

But it is boxing so no one knows for sure

I WAS THINKIN THAT!!! lol. too embarrassed to say it though.

i think round 9 is a bit early. id say the 12th and final round, maybe 11th.


And mosley did counter WINKY's right jab with a left hook a few times. and it worked everytime.

You have to remember that mosely had the speed. Ike has good power but I don't know what kind of speed he is bringing compared to moselys. If he can get it that would be great and his biggest chance in the fight is the timeing. Gez rereading my post sounds like I am disrespecring ike's skill. That's not my intention but I really think he is out matched.

I'm going to do the same thing with taylor and ouma and I'm interested in what you think. Ill be making thread in days to come

yea sure. i think taylor ouma is another mismatch. should be entertaining while it lasts though.

but im not really sure on the size differencial. i have a picture in my head of taylor towering over ouma.

Yeah I have him towering big time. Ouma has no chance of outboxing taylor because taylor has been in with the best at a young age. I think height might be a few inches but I also think ouma has a decent reach
