I don't remember the name of the movie. I was only half watching it as I worked. I'm not sure it was even about the same guy, but the theme was similar. I have never heard of the book, though.

      Edit:
      Here it is: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0356443/plotsummary

In the movie he was before a tribunal and the writings of this other guy you talked about were brought up and DeNiro was dis*****g them. That's why it popped to mind.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but the writings and the movie were set in a time where us evil whities made no distinction between tribes or regions. They were all just little brown savages to the conquing Europeans.

            I'll look for the movie.

I'll also look for the book name, its some crazy ****. Its really a letter or explanation to the king of spain to allow him to keep torchering the Mayans of Mexico -the book has a similar title- cause too much torcher/murder/**** and so on was going on that a priest -or higher- came to Mexico and stopped the torcher -or says the book- and this priest that is writing the letter to the king of spain -the book is the letter- says the he wants the right to torcher the indegenous as nessasary and be put back in power.

If he found them talking in their native language, -if i remember correctly- one thing he did was burn their hands or feet. I can't remember exactly, but i remember he did/ordered some crazy **** to take place against them for breaking the new rules - spanish was being enforced, of course spanish is not really called spanish it used to be called some other name, well that what a co-worker told me, he used to have a spanish book that translated to english, but instead of spanish it had another defenition for spanish i forget what it was called.

                Castellano? Iberian?

I was watching something about that the other day. They were saying how archeologists still have not fully translated the Incan, Mayan, Zapotec and Aztec writings because the Spaniards burned all the texts written in the native languages in order to both enforce speaking Spanish and quash the pagan religions.

I'll look for book name tommorrow, which i belive names the preist. When i first read the book i keep track of a few quotes, cause i was a bit amazed at what i was reading and for quick reference i could go back to those exact quotes. But there were too many, so i just keep track of a few, but i belive i did keep the title name of the book.

Supposedly, europe has a lot of real text from Mexico, belonging to the Aztec and Mayan. Supposedly some were held i belive in france in a library i belive. But europe, holds artifacts/texts and books about Mexico in thier indegenous times.
