Mexico has the 11th largest Population at 107 821 742 Phillipines ranks 12th with 89 949 602.. so really mexico is NOT much larger... less than 20 million people ... both have a large talent pool .... However when it comes to actual size Mexico is MUCH larger at 1 972 55 SQkm to Phillipines 300 000 SQkm...

this is ******, ofcourse maxico will have more champ,just like PR, because of their proximity to the boxing mecca(USA).Course this dont envolve canada cuz of their good economic stadings. Until Pac and maybe liusito, i dint even see that many pinoy boxers in the world stage. while Mex fighters have been heavily exposed in world stage eversince Sanchez and JCC. Pac is like the JCC version to the pinoys, so the mexican fans should be the most understanding of how they feel. cuz i remember JCC fans back in the day thinking he would beat everyone from SRR to Hagler.

I have said it before, the Philippines has been involved in boxing longer than Mexico has. We have had world champs before Mexico. Check the records and you will see. Pinoys have a rich history in boxing that just faded away with the political tide. It is not so much the population size but the proximity to the United States that has helped countries like Mexico and PR become great boxing nations. Along with high numbers of fans living and spending money to escalate their boxers careers to new heights in the U.S., they also have a multitude of fans right across the border. The boxing business had no need for Pinoy fighters, who did were hard to promote due to a lack of support in the U.S.. Until Pacquiao ofcourse. Now we see promotes like Golden boy and Bob Arum, etc. itching to sign more Pinoy talent, and they have. The WBC is also a "Mexican organization" that has always been known to rank Mexican/hispanic fighters higher than more deserving Pinoy/Asian fighters who deserve a crack. Mexico has a higher concentration of their population that has chosen boxing as their career because they see success, while the Philippines has shifted more into other sports because, until Pacquiao reminded Pinoys about the glory of Philippine boxing and showed Pinoys can generate alot of money in the sport, they were relatively ignored.

I have been visiting this forum for quite awhile just to read the topics but i had to register to come and back my people up.First of all i respect manny pacquiao,he is a very good and entertaining boxer but his fans are so out of their minds.First they insult mexican boxers and not just pac fans others in this site.I want to ask you guys some thing who has ad more champs mexico or the phillipines?What country has more current champs,mexico.So for all the pinoys thinking they are better than mexico in boxing are out of their mind.I know pacquiao beat morales and barrera and i give him props but you know what morales already beat him once.And no pinoy ever beat our great legends like chavez,sanchez,ricardo lopez who by the way retired undefeated and beat like 4 pinoys,or oscar de la hoya,or all our greats that we have had.You guys never beat none of those but one of ours already beat your only great boxer taht youv'e had.You guys are not real fans just pac fans and what i wonder is who are you guys going to have when pacquiao gets beaten cuz he is not invincible morales and marquez already proved that who are you guys going to have?Us we have plenty of good boxers to choose from we do have more champions than any other country in the world.So i challenge all pinoys to bring alist of....10 good current boxers and 10good past boxers and will see who is better mexico or phillipines.
