  • Mayweather Pictures Another Ten Years

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. turns 30-years-old in February. Already a ten year pro, he tells sports writer David Mayo that he sees himself fighting for another decade because he has not taken a lot of punishment in the ring, and his body still feels great. [details]

    THANK YOU!!!!

i was basically harrassed when i said that mayweather was gonna go more then 8 fights.

The thread was about mayweathers NEXT 8 opponents, and diego fuego and some other people were yellin at me and stuff, saying things like "if u think mayweather is gonna fight for more then a few more years, ur joking urself!"

    finally, redemption! lol

Bernard Hopkins set extremely high standards. Others are being silly if they think they can still produce their best by the time they are 35, let alone 40.

i really doubt it. hagler, basilio, hopkins were one of a kind (or three of a kind if that's what you fancy) athletes who only focused on one thing: boxing. i don't think mayweather is like the following names above.

Also, Hagler and Hopkins stayed at one weight class for most (if not all) their careers. Floyd will at least be at 154 in a few years. It'll be tough to maintain his level of domination when the reflexes start going and he's already undersized...

exactly. i do think the reason hagler started burning out a little early was because of the competition he faced and the dues he payed to the sport. the man didn't get a title shot until his 40th fight!! if floyd fights fighters who are willing and game he won't fight until he is 40 - especially with his shady (to say the least) personal life.

i mean, the only reason hopkins lasted so long in the sport is because hes a gym rat.

Mayweather is the same type of fighter. Whether hes in camp or not, hes working out.

Hopkins ran soooo much between camps, it allowed him to stay in shape until he was old and grey.

Mayweather runs whenever he feels like it, tons of miles everyday. Its rediculous. He could last very long in the sport if he could keep it up, and if anyone whos fighting right now could do it, its mayweather

One thing you can not question about PBF is his commitment to being in the best shape possible.. he is also smart enough in the ring that experince and over all boxing skill could compensate for a slight loss in speed and reflexes..... As much as I dislike the guy.. he has a lot admirable qualities

from what i've heard, hopkins was eating right every single day - all year. factor in hopkins WEAK competition and you have an extremely rare breed of fighters that could compete at a high level - even in there 40's. i really doubt mayweather is the same, especially considering his shady personal life. mr. flamboyant told us himself that he loves to go out and go to strip clubs. i could be wrong but i think my assumption about mayweather is correct.

like i said, if the competition is game to fight mayweather i don't think he'll last as long.
