Aaron Pryor's only pro loss (Youtube)

By the time Pryor fought Bobby Young, he was way over the hill. He had become drug addled and had not been seriously training. That said, Pryor was really out of it when he was stopped. The right hand that crashed off his temple ****ed up his equilibrium and he wasn't fit to continue.

    Poor Hawk,

This is another one of those fights that's hard to watch.

But as you mentioned, the years of drug abuse really render this fight as a write off.

    That's not the real Hawk.

It is really sad, had Pryor not been addled with his substance abuse, he may never have lost and had one of the greatest careers in boxing history.

if he hadn't come back he would've retired undefeated, but to his credit he never lost another fight after that.

brings a tear to my eye seeing Pryor lose that fight.

Looked like he had his moments and mistook the count. That right?

That is essentially what happened, but lets be real here. Pryor was out of it, he didnt know what was going on until the ref waved his arms. Its really sad, a very au****ious and poor representation of him as a fighter. He was much greater than this fight suggests.

Naturally. I have his fight (2) with Arguello on tape and have seen others. He is one of the GOATS.

Couldn't agree more. Pryor was one of those people who should have retired undefeated. He had some wins after that but they were small insignificant wins and then I think, if I remember correctly, he ended up homeless for a time and even had bleeding ulcers from his drug use. Just a sad situation.

His ability to come back on the other side of that tunnel made him one of my heroes.
