who did judah beat? an old cosme rivera?? lol

u have no right to complain.
And no one was saying Mitchell or Judah beat Floyd. A lot of people think Clottey can pull the upset, which is sad considering he barely beat Richard Gutierrez...

Interesting take...usually to get owned somebody has to enlighten you about a point you were previously unaware of. I was totally aware of the fact the fight was 7 years ago. Now in the last 7 years the only other fights of note that Baldomir has been in have been against Judah and Gatti. And clearly fighters don't get more physically skilled as they get older. Baldomir might be a smarter fighter now but not a more skilled fighter. Clottey DOES NOT deserve a title shot, but when Margarito destroys him there will be a direct comparison of common opponents that won't look good for Baldomir.

well, i cant really explain why they think that. i think tony will handle him with ease. i mean cmon, R.G. had him against the ropes for most of the fight and hit him with some pretty solid shots. tony hits way harder how long do u think clottey will last if he does that? i guess we will have to wait and see. I personally think Gutierrez is underrated. I saw his last fight before clottey and it was total domination.

Becoming a smarter fighter can sometimes make you a better fighter even if you don't improve physically or skillwise. So Baldomir is probably a better overall fighter than he was in 1999. Also, is Clottey the same fighter he was 7 years ago? I doubt it. He could be better or worse. Could a 1999 Margarito beat a 1999 Clottey? 7 years is such a long period between bouts that comparing Margarito's fight in 2006 with Baldomir's in 1999 isn't really telling us much...

Very well could happen, but think about this. Fighters like Quintana and Williams often look better than they really are. Boxing is politics and fighters' handlers like to match them against opponents that will make them look impressive early in their career. For instance, Williams has the tailor-made style/physical skills to dominate an old and faded Sharmba Mitchell (short and beaten). While Quintana has done more to impress me as he was supposed to be the sacrificial lamb for Julio, Julio also fit right into his style. Julio strictly came forward and couldn't deal with the superior boxing skills. Yes Margarito has fought some questionable opposition but he has beaten better opponents than that and he has looked impressive in every one of his title defenses.

Now there is a fair response with some good facts (no sarcasm). I can talk to you. Everything you said is true. It is just my personal opinion that Baldomir's greatest asset (his chin) won't do him much good against the hardest hitting WW. If Baldomir is able to survive I give him a decent chance to win a decision.

What should also be pointed out that Baldomier is Floyds first true Welterweight. Compared to Hatton and Cotto who fought, is fighting a true welterweight. But, thats just smart management by Floyds people, if he can get away with it why not...
