First of all, does anyone have evidence that this is in the works? Links, etc? Second, as much as I like Mora (and I do), I don't see him winning due to the sheer experience level. Mora has been out-boxing his opponents and I don't think he'd be able to out-box Vargas. Not to mention Vargas has some power. Honestly, if the fight goes the stretch, I'd probably see Mora winning because he throws lots of punches, but I have a hard time thinking it'd go all the way. I say Vargas by straight KO in the middle rounds.

maybe the vargas of a few years ago but the vargas of today is **** and couldnt even handle the pillow fisted mora if they fought. saying otherwise is denying the facts.

Both Dan Rafael and Steve Kim have reported that negotiations are taking place. However, Rafael later said in his chat (last Friday) that he didn't believe Vargas would ever fight again, so apparently nothing is close.

So would I and simply for the fact that if Vargas was to lose then he could retire without suffering serious damage.

Word on the street is that Mora sparred a few sessions with Fernando's younger brother Roger. From what I hear Roger got the best of him, so I don't think Mora would last too long with Fernando (he still has enough in the tank to KO a few non-elite guys)

This would be a good fight to take for both parties involved, I'd say. For Vargas, Mora is a name fighter that he could conceivably destroy and get himself one last big payday from in a bigger fight. For Mora, on the other hand, if there is a beatable big name, it is Fernando Vargas. The guy was never great to begin with and is completely shot now.

Still, with all that said, Vargas by TKO in 4.
