The hardcore fans yes, the fans who keep track of the lighter weights yes. Marquez was introduced to Europe boxing fans years ago, because Hamed refused to fight him.

JMM , EM , MAB and HAMED were the biggest names in featherweight boxing for most of the 90's and 2000. Pac only exploded onto the scene after beating MAB which was in 2003. When I say exploded I mean popularity wise. Nobody gave a **** when he beat Ledwaba, it was only after the MAB fight. When he fought JMM , Marquez was by far the bigger name at the time.

Ferocity, good answer. Not bashing on JMM or U, i just want to point that becaue a fighter is popular does not mean he is known by everybody in the boxing world.

Ok, basicly Marquez is know by everybody that has to do with boxing, with it is a fighter in that division, or a tv network.

The original question was "did pacquiao make marquez famous?" the answer is No!

I'm still at college the time when Prince Hamed is still active, and I knew JMM that time too, though I cant watch much boxing at that time.

so why is Hamed, MAB & EM ducked JMM? thats what I heard.

the point theyre saying is perhaps jmm became MORE well known having to rise from the 3 Round 1 KDs. any lesser opponent wouldve been done already.

jmm known yes. made famous yes.
