ROFL, so Tito is a bum
Tito fought everyone at 147lbs that was a contender except for Ike who went MIA after his controversial loss to Oscar.
Tito then and now is a huge draw and he definitely deserved better than a 30/70 cut. Tito then went on to win titles at 154lbs and a version of the 160lbs title in a tournament. Thats a guy who is scared to fight and is a bum?
I can respect peoples oppionon on why Oscar won the fight but to say Tito is a bum is ******ed and shows you know nothing about boxing.Comment

Some people who post here are really ignorant. Quit posting if you do not know what happened.
Trinidad IS retired. He doesn't need the fight, Oscar does (if he wants to avenge his loss).
In all the press conferences before the fight, Tito kept telling Oscar he was going to beat him and, if he wanted a rematch, he'd have to switch the names on the contract. They would put Tito where it said DLH, Don King where it said Bob Arum, and vice versa.
In the last press conference, De La Hoya told Tito he was dreaming if he thought he would win the fight and to prove it he accepted the terms of switching the names. Oscar made 60% and Tito made 40% of the purse and they split the upside of the PPVs over 500K buys (they made 1.4 Million buys so they both made maaaad money on the upside alone).
Since then, any time DLH mentions a rematch, Tito brings up the agreement to switch the names and Tito get 60% and Oscar get 40% of the purse. Oscar's ego has never allowed him to take those terms because he is the bigger draw and is used to getting the lions share of the purse in all his fights.
It was Oscar who offered 70-30 to Tito. Tito never offered less than 60-40 and has never wanted anything else than to switch the names on the original contract. Those of us who've been boxing fans long enough remember all of this. It is only now that Papa Trinidad said that he'd even accept 50-50 to prove that Oscar is full of **** and that he did not really want the rematch but only wanted to use Tito's name to highlight his own and give him more leverage when negotiating his next fight (probably his last).
BTW, I had the fight a draw at 114-114. I had Oscar up 6 rounds to 2 when round 9 started but Oscar just got on his bicycle and, in my eyes, lost the last four rounds clearly.Comment

Do I like his retiring nope.....but is it really that different than ODLH who has been in defacto retirment twice?
I also understand if you dont like tito because of the low blow which I also think was intentional but Tito but can you point out another instance in where Tito has been blatantly dirty?
Also I'm curious what are your thoughts on DLH's "cup guard" for the Vargas fight?Comment

I didn't have it a draw because I'm Puerto Rican. I had it a draw because that's how I saw it. Many people had it a draw. Lederman had it a draw, but I remember Merchant and Forman having it for Tito. I remember Dan Raphael from USA Today at the time also having scored it a draw. It wasn't an unheard of score.Comment
