Though I scored the fight 6 rounds a piece, 114-113 Corrales, I felt no sympathy for him when he lost. By not making weight, he forfeited any right to complain. Like I said before the fight, Casamayor should have went in there and fought the dirtiest fight of his life. I was surprised he only landed one really good headbutt. But if Corrales had complained, no one would have listened. Just like nobody is listening now that he says he thought he won. So what? He and Goosen should have realized it was a close fight and that nobody would be on Corrales' side for the weight debacle. He had to knock Casamayor out to win that one or at least down a few times but he held back and waited to counter punch like a fool. Yeah I scored it for Corrales, but I have no complaint with a Casamayor win. I could accept Casamayor winning as many as 8 rounds in that one because he won several rounds clearly. Corrales only won the 12th round clearly and did just enough to be competitive the rest of the fight. Justice was served last night as it always should be in boxing, whether it's my favorite fighter or not. I'm not going to be like Castillo fans and defend Corrales' actions just like I don't defend Toney coming in overweight.
Why don't fighters start losing weight much earlier than they do? I'll never understand why Castillo couldn't get down to 135 between October 2005 and June 2006. That's just baffling. I mean, you know you're going to fight so why not get in shape and stay in shape? Isn't that what real fighters do? Should we really respect any fighter that doesn't make weight?
I'm surprised fighters like Mayweather, who always train and always come to fight in shape, don't get more respect. Who cares if he has a bad attitude? He's a boxer, not your friend. Who cares if he hasn't shown heart? He's never really had to. Mayweather does his job and should get more respect for it.
Anyway, I'm done with this nonsense. How do other Corrales fans feel about this? Think he should retire? I do because there's nothing left for him in boxing. At 140, he's a KO waiting to happen. He supposedly can't make 135 anymore, so I think he's done.
