This fight was a total miss-match. donaire dint show anything that would indicate he was even close to Vics level except that maybe he can take a punch. I was expecting an early KO since he got tko'd by feather fisted prospect in 1rd.
and glenn deff pulled a "no mas"

It was not the first time that Donaire quit. I remember two other occassions that he did, one clearly, the other vaguely.
Against Z Gorres, Donaire claimed he was unable to see after having been hit by a left hook in the first round. That left hook was preceded by a clash of heads and Donaire wanted officials to believe that the clash of heads was the cause of his vision issues although the ref, Jay Nady, had given him time to recover from the headclash. None of the officials bought it. Officially it went into the record books as a 1st round TKO win for Gorres.
In an earlier contest against another Filipino fighter somewhere in the suburbs of Manila, he quit in an early round after howling so much to the referee that he was frequently fouled. I can't recall who his opponent was but I recall vaguely that it was on a regular Philippine TV boxing show. It seems that the fight has been omitted from Donaire's official record; it cannot be found there. But many can attest that it did happen: there was a live audience and, like I said, it was carried on TV.
It ended as a defeat for Donaire.
In those two occassions, Donaire did not get away with his tricks. He, somewhat, succeeded against Darchinyan as ref Weekes bought it.Last edited by grayfist; 10-08-2006, 03:40 AM.
