Did newbies enter the fourm today under old poster names?

Seriously, a lot of Calzaghes title defences were with the WBO title, a title not recongnized as the elite title, one in which he can't be given credit for so many title defences in the same breath as Joe Louis who held the real title. We all know the WBO aint the top title, its just a hair better then the NABF, but no better. And certainly not in the same class as the WBC, WBA and IBF.

If Calzaghe had done all those title defence with one of the main titles then his record would be legit, but since he made those title defences with the lesser title they don't compare to the main title defences.

So far Calzaghes only real title is the IBF, just won after beating Lacy, so to catch up to Louis he'll have 25 title defencs to go. Calzaghe still has a long way to go....

And J.C.Chavez already passed J.Louis title defence record i think with 27 and i think Ricardo "Finito" Lopez, may have passed Chavez record with 28-29 title defences.

Ladies calm down. Yes, the WBO title aint the most highly rated. Yes, most of Frank Warren's fighters seem to hold this lesser title, but people have been avoding Joe. Enzo said so in the article. In any case, there is still a chance to get it on with a respectible fighter like Winky. Just give it some time. I'm confident by the time Joe retires, he would have got the fights and win you girls over.

Some of the best fighters hold the WBO title.

          Antonio Margarito
          Miguel Cotto
          Sergei Liakhovich
          Jermain Taylor
          Acelino Freitas
          Ivan Calderon

It is a proper title and has gained its recognition.

It doesn't matter, Joe isn't a HEAVYWEIGHT, the record is a HEAVYWEIGHT record...

And putting JOE LOUIS and joe calzaghe's name in the same sentence just doesn't seem right

Oh, **** joe calzaghe if he thinks this is some type of accomplishment to make him a "Legend" like JOE LOUIS

I also would like to say one more thing...didn't joe have the WBO belt, is that even a belt...I mean, it was always a "4th" belt to many people...soon whoever has the IBU, WTV, or whatever belt, if they get 30 defenses of the local bar title, do they equal great Legens?

I don't even think Hopkins's defense "record" is all that great

The positive of all this is that The Blow is clearly saying that he's planning on doing more than the "4 or 5" fights he previously mentioned, so we're likely to get plenty more Blow action. That can only be a good thing... can't it?

On a thinly related note, I just went to The Blow's official website: http://www.joecalzaghe.com/ and it says "see the Blow fight on YouTube". So you click on the link and it's removed due to copyright infringements. Did he forget to ask Uncle Frank's permission?

Joe had the "bum of the month" fights, but he still beat good opponents prior and after winning the title.

What it means (laughably) is that in order to keep defending, he'll be staying at 168 for another 4 or 5 fights.

There goes the notion of fighting Lt Heavies, unless of course he goes right back to calling out guys like Glen Johnson and demanding they drop down to 168.

Well it aint like Louis's defenses were against elite opposition either.
I mean the term "bum of the month" tour was created for him to completely honest.
And besides the records are made to be broken.
I feel much more uneasy thinking that Valuev can do the 49-0 then Blow beating Louis's record.
