Still you cant really compare Blow to Louis for a simple reason that Louis was a HW.
A bit different game there, then the SW.
And even if Blow manages to beat the recor(how many more defenses he needs, 6 or 7?) He still would not have names on the record that would be an equivalent to Louis.

I mean the term "bum of the month" tour was created for him to completely honest.
Regardless, he did beat many great fighters in his reign.

And, if Louis could have picked up a meaningless WBO title early in his career and not unified, he could have had 40 defenses.

Calzaghe just unified his first title this year. Considering him for this record is an outright joke.

So is Valuev's streak considering he lost CLEARLY to Larry Donald, but that's a seperate shamefull thread.

I totally agree, P4P was created so lighter guys can feed off their egos.
Imagine what would happen to PBF if he decides to step into the ring with Wlad. No speed and shoulder roll would get him out of the ring alive.
P4P lately became an excuse rather then status.

Thats what I said in my previous post, you cant really compare Blow's record to Louis's if we are talking about competition.
My point was that technically he can break the record due to lack of opposition in his division, but that wont grant him the place alongside with Louis or other all time greats.

And besides the records are made to be broken.
I feel much more uneasy thinking that Valuev can do the 49-0 then Blow beating Louis's record.
Well it is not like Marciano won the title in his 30th fight or anything

Imagine if you won the title in say your 20th fight, that is a long road to travel to get to 50-0 to break the record

LOL, I was about to post a topic like that, "Mayweather's ducking the Best", then finishing it with, "He is ducking Wlad"

I remember on the SportsCentury Ray Robinson when it said that Ray tended to hit his women, and one time Ray was getting a bit roady with his wife or some girl and JOE LOUIS came up behind him, grabbed his hand/arm, and said, "DON"T YOU DO IT", Ray got startled.

I see what you're saying, but one of the biggest points about this is that all of those "WBO" defenses (while there were 3 other titlists in his division) should NOT have counted as real Championship defenses.

If I'm not mistaken, Sven Ottke holds a modern day record for defenses.

Funny how his streak and Joes over lapped eachother for a few years. Two guys both making defenses in the same division without fighting eachother only underlines how superficial and wrong these "streaks" are in this modern age.

It is a proper title and has gained its recognition.
                  LOL! Sure it has.

I mean as you menioned Margarito holds a WBO title, yet people say he hasn't done anything at welterweight and nobody gives a **** ass that he has the WBO because its not one of the recognized titles.

People only pay attention to a fighter that has the WBO title if and only if, it benefits them.

The WBO is not the same as having the the WBC, WBA or IBF.

Obviously, to be honest, guys in lighter weights are not that much faster then good HWs, which is only about one thing that is their advantage.
When a guy like Louis hits you with a cross on a chin, it does not matter who you are, you go down.

I just remembered, Mikelesjeckochevkski (however you spell his name), was very close and then lost, maybe the "Boxing Gods" will prevent it if they feel Joe doesn't deserve it.
