There is not enough interest in people paying for boxing DVDs. Bigger sports like Baseball, Hockey and Football dont distribute DVDs of regular season games or playoffs and they have followings that blow the following of Boxing away.
People pay big bucks to have premium channels like HBO and Showtime in order to watch these fights, some like me, only pay for them to watch Boxing fights. Boxing is a very tiny part of what HBO and Showtime do, which is why they always have problems putting certain fights together due to there not being enough money to go around. They arent going to risk losing subscribers or pay per view buyers who will wait until the DVD comes out. Once HBO started putting out Sopranos on DVD, I know plenty of people that cancelled HBO and just buy the season once it comes out because it saves money.
The only pro sports DVD I have seen do semi decent numbers is the collectors edition DVD of the Super Bowl that comes out every year, but we are talking about the biggest sporting event of the year.
