sell their fights on DVD. they could sell the fights for like $9.99, PPVs for about $15.99 with all the prefight arguements and build up, interviews and what not. It would be profit for them, joy for us boxing fanatics. Same goes for showtime. I want to have Toney/Jirov on dvd to show my friends.
you can get that fight on DVD. If the bootleggers were making a ton of money, you best believe HBO and Showtime would be putting out their own stuff. There must not be sufficient interest for them to worry about releasing these fights.
It's silly. When WWE started releasing double DVDs with classic wrestling matches on 2 and 3 DVD sets, they sold like crazy, Ric Flair's disc in particular.
Maybe they would have better success putting out a Roy Jones disc with his best 10 fights, a Gatti, DLH, Mosley, Lewis, whoever they own the rights to the fights.
That could be another issue - divying up the profits with the promoters, etc. I wonder who "owns" these fights.
I would think that the promoters would want a piece of the profit since they are the ones who actually put on the show. That could be a big road block.
i sent ask harold a request,on hbos ask harold to float the idea around to hbo guys there
to get talks of an hbo boxing channel floating around
god knows i dont need hbo sig, com, east, west, and the other ones
i know he dont make these kinds of decsions but hes got better chance to let them hear it then i do
This would be all right for fight fans a few years down the road trying to get their hands on a fight - but for a show that was free on its network, why would someone pay 20 bucks for it when they could just record it - and they already know the outcome by the time it's on DVD.
Oh wait, I just checked this link. It comes with a free keychain. I'm in.

Bootleggers do make a ****load of a money. Like, an enormous ****load. I think the problem right now is exactly what you mentioned at the end of your post. It's easy for the WWE to put their "fights" out on DVD, after all they own all the rights to the entire enterprise. HBO only own the rights to the figthers they promote.
