Symbolic victories in the boxing history.

    I think:

    Joe Louis vs Max Schmelling
    Salvador Sanchez vs Wilfredo Gomez

    ¿Others?

I can understand Louis vs Schmelling but why Sanchez vs Gomez is symbolic?

        here's one

I think Tarver over Jones. Not just for the win, but by knocking out Mr. Unknockoutable. **** was shocking.

Most anticipated fight in a long time....and it becomes the most lackluster fight of the year. Everyone, including me, was expecting a Tommy Hearns/Ray Leonard type of fight.

Anyway....Gomez/Sanchez was more significant as this began the era of Mexican fighters to come.

For me I always refer back to Bowe v. Ferguson...after this one was over you knew we were watching something special in the Big Daddy.

It was almost like Elway and the DRIVE...almost.
