He wasn't that young, in his thirties. He didn't turn pro till around 28 or so. He should have fought Nino Valdes or some legitimate sized heavy.Comment

yup, though there were many fighters that had back injuries and continued to fight...not sure if it was smart, but you sometimes have to fight through the pain...when Floyd Patterson fought Ali, that looked bad.
Back injuries are a ***** so if it was really bad, it was a smart moveLast edited by Abe Attell; 09-29-2006, 12:01 PM.Comment

yea, I saw the video clip too where he said it to the press at his retirement...not sure I bye it, but I don't know the situation...if he respected his wife that much, maybe he should of considered keeping his **** in his pants, just a thoughtLast edited by Abe Attell; 09-29-2006, 12:01 PM.Comment

You children ought to check you facts. Nino Valdes was ranked number one in the division until Archie Moore beat him. Moore then lobbied for months to get the fight with Marciano who had been planning to retire. Moore had been on a 21 fight winning streak and did everything short of calling Marciano a coward to get the fight. As it happens it turned out to be the biggest moneymaker of Marciano's career.
Yeah, Marciano turned pro around 28 or so, give or take around 6 years or so.Comment
