Al Certo dissing Roy Jones in '98

"He doesn't know how to fight, he doesn't know how to stand and he's wide open as the Holland Tunnel."

"I swear to you, Michael Nunn would beat Jones seven days a week, and twice on a Sunday."

    When asked how..
"Nunn isn't as fast as he used to be, and he isn't as fast as Jones is now. But the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, or in boxing's case, a straight punch. Roy Jones can't throw straight punches often, or as well as Nunn. If Nunn emphasises his speed, his right jab and his left hand I see him as a guy who'd beat and maybe school Jones.

"He's (Nunn) sitting down on his punches more these days and isn't entering the ring jaded with any weight worries, he's going to hurt Jones. He's more fluid and flowing than Jones could ever be, with better timing than anything Jones has seen. He's 6ft3, Jones would have to jump to land and when he does Nunn glides his upper body out of range, which should be second nature to him because he's been doing it for 14 years."

Well he was partially correct. RJJ didn't/doesn't know how to really fight however he under-estimates RJJ's pure athletic/physical talent. JT is smoother, slicker and craftier than Nunn was and JT still got soundly beat by a freakishly talented RJJ.

Toney was getting beat even sounder by an even more talented Nunn..

Jones Jr was leaping in and straight back out against Toney whereas Nunn actually just stood in front of Toney and just completely out-boxed him.

            1) Who cares what Al Certo thinks?
            2) Rjj stops Nunn late.

You know they used to say the same **** about Muhammad Ali and how he was going to get knocked out by this guy and that guy...it's all bull****...as long as these guys are still youthful, still in their prime or near it, their reflexes are their defense...it is when they start to slide, they are ****ed, unless they have the ability to take shots like Ali...Roy Jones and Ali don't come around that often...they are freaks of nature that are allowed to get away with things that even the top guys can't get away with, they are above the top, they are the peak.

With all due respect to Ali and Jones, I feel Michael Nunn was more talented than both.

Nunn was the most talented fighter of his era IMO, until he ****** his career up his nose after KOing Kalambay.
