I like how british boxing is comming into their own its just a lot of these undefeted brits have yet to fight real opponents, don't get me wrong they have skills but many fighters are really babied there. Froch is the best I think personally as he has at least a good win over a known solid fighter in magee. There managers need to give them a chance to prove themselves agianst better fighters from outside england and europe. They need to at least have a fight or two in the U.S agianst guys that have been on american tv and are solid and then we will see. I have no dought that some have the skills to competeon a high level but untill then the jury is out. Hatton is the only one really to have proven himself on an international stage. I hope brittish boxing does well because its good for the sport and england has a lot of boxing histroy.

It's a good fight but I hope Matt Macklin wins because blood's thicker than water if you know what I mean.

It will be an excellent fight and having British guys at the top of their game facing off before moving up a level will increase the chances of fighters breaking through and not withering on the vine in the UK scene.

I am just putting together a Macklin reply article with his pre-fight prediction.

British Boxing coming into its own??

It's in a worse state than it's ever been in.

And there's nothing 'bitter' about this as said in the article. It's strictly business, the lads like eachother.

Oh and Macklin is a class above Moore, IMO. Just like Froch is a class above Dodson.

I think it will show in the fights.. that's my prediction.

It's in a dire state, we'll never recapture the days when boxing was a beloved sport of household names such as Cooper, Minter, Conteh, McGuigan, Bruno, Benn, Eubank.

Look at these guys (Macklin and Moore) for example, I like the boys but 20 years ago we had Tony Sibson, Errol Christie, Mark Kaylor, Herol Graham, Nigel Benn, Rod Douglas, Michael Watson... see what I mean?

Calzaghe is getting on and Hatton has said he only wants a couple more fights then Mayweather. Imagine the British Boxing scene without those two - it's pretty bare on the world scene really. No disrespect intended but I can't see the general public forking out on PPV shows for any active fighter other than Mancunian's for Hatton. Go back 10 years and we had Lennox Lewis, Henry Akinwande, Herbie Hide, Carl Thompson, Johnny Nelson, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Henry Wharton, Crawford Ashley, Robin Reid, Richie Woodhall, Glenn Catley, Dean Francis, Ryan Rhodes, Ensley Bingham, Gary Jacobs, Ross Hale, Paul Ryan, Billy Schwer, Michael Ayers, Paul Burke, Steve Robinson, Duke McKenzie, Colin McMillan, Naseem Hamed, Wayne McCullough, Spencer Oliver, Michael Brodie etc all either established in the top 10 or fringes of world-class. Anyone who thinks the game is as healthy now as it was then needs a CAT scan and some cold water tipping on there head X-factor style.

Its been years sinces the days of bruno and collins eubank and benn. Haye is making a lot of noise and froch is ranked. Granted you know longer have as high of a talent pool. But people are excited about Khan and the other fighters I named. I live in the U.S and would love to see those three fight and I would think the brits would even be more passionate than me about their fights.
