  • If Hatton Wants a War, the Enemy is Waiting.

The cameras rolled as ever they did around Ricky Hatton, but this was no media engagement. SKY television encroached into his dressing room as he underwent final preparations for a main event; they saw that the switch had already been flipped. Gone was the affable lad quick to joke or offer a favorable quote for one of his contemporaries; in his place was an altogether different creature, trained to destroy whoever dared step in his path.

The interviewer went through the standard questions, and the buzz intensified as time drew nearer to the fight. Without pretension, Hatton took a moment from his pad-work and said, “It’s time to put the kids to bed,” indicating that he was about to unleash a performance not suitable for innocent eyes.

This was long before he was tempted from England - where his foundation was laid - to America. British networks chronicled his growth before Showtime began to screen what they deemed were his significant fights. Finally, when Hatton’s achievements matched the depth of his potential, HBO reached for its checkbook.

HBO doesn’t build legends; it gathers and stores them. Hatton is now just one of a dozen championship caliber fighters whom HBO juggle throughout each year. The routine injuries and postponements aside, competing for dates amongst such a talent laden roster makes Hatton’s pursuit of a busier schedule impossible. [details]

I have a question. What the hell happened to Hatton's "I really want Floyd Mayweather in Madison Square Garden this year". . I think he lost guts after getting schooled by Collazo. He knows, Mayweather would pop shot him and toy with him all night. Hatton got quiet all of a sudden. He don't want none of PBF.

That fight is probably dead in the water. Hatton won't go to welterweight for anything other than Mayweather, and Mayweather will probably be at 154 next year. It's a shame because Hatton and Mayweather is like Duran and Leonard.

Hey Mowgli. What's better, beating Floyd or beating the man that beat Floyd?

Nobody has beaten Floyd, his record stands undefeated. Dont bring "OH OH HE LOST IN THE FIRST FIGHT"

The record says he didint. The judges say he didint, there is nothing that can be done about it. Castillo lost twice. The record says so. There is no opinion that can change this. Therefore this argument is invalid

Taking off 50-pounds is a struggle. Now Hatton will not even have a regular fight schedule and training camps to assist that. He makes the weight, but it is not an easy task.

He's near fighting weight within two weeks of camp.

                    Schooled?

That's ridiculous. More like given a tough fight against an akward southpaw.

"Schooled" is more like Wright winning virtually every round against Trinidad. Collazo tasted the canvas twenty seconds into the fight, and was getting manhandled in the trenches by Hatton.

Close fight, 115-112 Hatton is the right score and if you watch it again you'd have to be biased if you scored it for Collazo.

There's really no way he won 7 rounds, and at no point did he win any given round by a 10-8 margin like Hatton did the first.
