Gonzalez v Vasquez - Bad Stoppage

Fantastic stoppage. Perfect example of a corner knowing their fighter and knowing when he has had enough. Gonzalez only got up because he had to, if it wasn't so frowned upon i guarantee he would have stayed down. He was lucky he had a corner that was looking after his best interest.

Just like to say first what a fight and a genuine contender with Barrios v Guzman for fight of the year, I cant believe the cornerman of Gonzalez stopped this fight the guy was up on all scorecards and fighthing really well when he gets knocked down in the 10th round just when you think he`s going to get up on the eight count and sail to a comfortable points win his cornerman jumps up on the aprion waving a white towel, I couldnt believe my eyes and before anyone says that Vasquez was coming on strong it was because he had to Isreal is a awesome puncher and likes to brawl but Gonzalez was giving him a masterclass with his jab and could have won the title in my eyes quite comfortable, then again Vasquez might of caught him again not taking anything away from Vasquez it was a awesome win but I couldnt believe the fight ended like that and neither could Gonzalez`s father who was also in his corner

I couldn't figure out what his corner was thinking. I mean I could see if he was losing the fight and he was taking punishment, but he was winning the fight and didn't seem to be hurt that bad. I mean you are in the 10th round of a championship fight. I say you have to give the guy the oppurtunity to to finish the fight. He was controlling the fight until this point with his jab and mixing in power shots and combinations. Take nothing away from Vasquez in finding a way to adjust after he was being controlled through the majoriity of the fight. This was a very good fight, I just wish Gonzales would have been given the oppurtunity to finish. You can't say he would have gotten knocked out anyway. You never know. I would love to see these two fight again, but I doubt Vasquez will want to take this risk again. Gonzales was giving him all he could handle, but like I said you have to give Vasquez credit.

I mean I guess his corner knows him and Gonzales didn't protest, I would have just like to have seen if he could have made it through the round and fiinish the fight, because even if he would have lost the last two round, or even split them I think he wins the fight. I mean it was getting closer on the cards, but I think he had a big enough lead he would have won.
