Maskaev won't hold the title in June. Hopkins is just trying to get his name in the papers again.

Even if the fight did come off Hopkins would be destroyed. He's slowed down by age alone, and the extra weight won't help him recover any speed. Also, the fact that he's never taken a heavyweight's punch won't bode well for him.

This fight will not happen because Maskaev will not fight Peter IMO, his manager said that when they announced their Dec 23 fight. So Hopkins can fight Peter for the vacant title, which I doubt he'll do either. Unless WBC will bend the rules (again) and allow Maskaev another defense.

Bernard is smoking. I like him and all and he is a legend, but I dont think he can handle a HW at 50 yrs old. If he fights a HW, it might be just his last time breathing. What da hell is wrong these boxers....

Hopkins is reguarded as a legend by boxing experts and a first ballot hall of famer. You can't take that away from him. And by the way he beat Tarver when he moved up in weight. Now I know your going to say Tarver was overated and out of shape. Tarver never said he had a weight problem till after the fight, its just an excuse. Also he was the #1 light heavyweight at the time, who KOed Roy Jones. Remember Hopkins was the underdog, people always tear down accomplishments after they happen.

Heres how Tarver was talking before the fight:

I don't think he should do it, but I think its possible. I think he finished on a great high and screw the heavyweights he doesn't need to come back for them. I hope he stays retired.

Bernard Hopkins does not deseve a title shot outright. Im sorry but thats bull****. Fight Joe Calzaghe or Winky Wright in a superfight or stay retired.

Whats all this ''Maskaev won't get passed Peter'' crap? I think Maskaev has a legit chance of schooling Peter. What proven heavyweight has Peter beaten to date anyway? Klitschko beat him, and he got a controversial decision against Toney. Peter has power, but doesn't have the fundamentals to use it aganist good boxers in my opinion. If Maskaev fights his fight, i don't see any reason he can't win convincingly.

Hopkins has never really looked old, thats probably because he trains hard for all his fights.

this fight wont happen. Why? because After maskaev goes past Okhello he has to fight Samuel Peter, and I dont see Maskaev winning against Peter.
