    Punches: Quality or Quantity?

something ive been wondering for a while. what makes more of a difference in the decision? the boxer that lands MORE punches, or the boxer that lands the HARDER punches? its quantity vs quality.

should hagler have won in his fight vs leonard cuz his shots were harder? should toney have won cuz he landed more in his fight with peter?

is it a matter of opinion or a matter of fact?

help me out here. what do you guys think?

its a combination of both i think: i would rate a handful of hard shots the same as a boatload of light taps. accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of punching are how i rate a fighters performance in a bout.

accuracy is huge when i score a fight. If a guy is throwing 100 punches a round, and is only landing 15 soft taps, yet the other guy throws 40 hard shots and land 15 hard shots then the round goes to guy #2

A higher connect percentage is much more important to me. A guy shouldnt be able to win a round by landing a few big shots a round, while his opponent is landing nearly every shot he throws. ya know?

to me the harder puncher cause they show more will and more agression then the other fighter thats jus throwing.ne1 can throw punches but to catch them with meaningful punches is another thing

rounds are based on damage. that's why if you land less but have the other guy out on his feet with 3 or 4 shots you win the round. this isn't the ****ing amateurs.

on a 10-point system, judges would give 10-10 if both fighters put up a good fight but neither dominated each other, 10-9 if one fighter is more dominant, 10-8 if one fighter is totally dominating, and 10-7 or even lesser if the other fighter has been knocked down.

The guy who did the best at which ever of those or both. Depends, you cant just limit it down to one for every fight.

Did you see Ruiz's fight against Valuev? Valuev snapped Ruiz's head back with his jab numerous times. Should the judges count that? It is true that Ruiz got most of the full power shots, but those jabs would have swayed me as a judge.

that's a toughy, i would have to answer that one with a question. "which was more effective in the fight?"

if the guy with the precise quality punches or the guy with the volume punches had a signifigant effect.

the guy with the quality punches used those punches to control or dominate the fight then you got to go with him.

but if the guy with the volume controled the fight with his abundance of punches then it should go to him.

which ever one is the obvious dominant.
