I think the same outcome in a second fight would be Hopkins winning. Tarver might do a little better but I think Bernard is much above his level.

He was beaten soundly and a rematch is not in order.

No kidding. Just when you think Tarver had some sense beat into him, or that he would be humbled, he goes off on another one of his illogical rants.

Legendary fights??!? What the hell is wrong with this guy? Three fights with Jones (the last of which was a joke), two with Johnson and an embarrassing loss to Hopkins does not fill up a resume with "legendary fights". The two best fights were his LOSSES to Jones and Johnson (first fight in both series).

Wow, he really expects Rocky VI to be a big hit. I love Rocky, and will see this movie, but it will not make him a star and will NOT give him any leverage.

I'm sad to hear about Calzaghe going after him. Calzaghe needs to stop chasing guys who have lost it (Jones, Tarver) and go after guys like Kessler, Adamek and if nothing else can be made, Johnson.

Johnson lost to Woods.. why would he want that fight now?

Jones lost to Tarver and Johnson, why make that fight?

Tarver lost to Hopkins, why make that fight?

I heard the Woods fight hit a snag, that's why I mentioned it. Woods as a potential opponent was also assumed, given the publicity it's getting.

These days, a loss in your previous fight doesn't matter as much, especially if it's controversial (as Woods-Johnson III was). Look at Ike Quartey, he just lost to Forrest, controversially, and will get a shot a Winky and a big payday.

However, Calzaghe sure would get ripped for taking on Woods' "leftovers," so I doubt this fight will happen.

I think Hopkins would be better off, if he comes back to Boxing, to take a fight with a superpower, like Calzaghe; rather than give Tarver a chance to redeem himself, I think Hopkins should go for a superpower in the division.

I mean, if you're going to risk your legacy, why do it against a guy who you have not much to gain by beating since you've won already, and tons to lose because the public hates him. Go for Calzaghe, if you lose, you don't look too bad because of how good Calzaghe is, but if you win, your name gets placed next to Ray Robinson's, baby.

Bernard, go for the gold and fight Calzaghe. Don't get too old and say 'what could have been'. Get your name next to SRR's.

I laughed when I saw that quote from Tarver. There was nothing about that fight to warrant a rematch. If Tarver wants to leverage himself into a position to deserve a rematch, he needs to start beating some other opponents.

There is no reason for Hopkins to give Tarver a rematch. He beat him convincingly the first time, and has nothing to gain by coming out of retirement and fighting Tarver.

Exactly - That's why Warren wants him so bad.

Easy but high profile prey for Calzaghe.

EVERYONE who's anything from middleweight up has wanted Tarver for the last couple of years for those exact reasons.

Only problem is Tarver understands how he is such a valued commodity (even if he'd never admit WHY). So Tarver would want the lions share of any agreement. Something Warren has never been willing to give.
