I think Toney cant knock out a real heavyweight.
WBC is likely to allow Maskaev have a voluntary defence...

I disagree, Maskaev doesn't have a great jab like Rahman!Originally posted by NautilusI think Maskaev is very close to Rahman in terms of skill. I think Maskaev--Toney will be very much like Rahman--Toney.
Anyway, the Rahman fight was close, I can't argue with anyone giving it to Toney or Rahman!Comment

The Toney/Peter fight was not an eliminator?Originally posted by NautilusThis is an unofficial rumour.
I have read this at another site (Russian-language). The rationale is that Toney was a mandatory contender, but the fight with Peter was not an elimination bout.
Duva said he plans to file a protest.
I hope Maskaev defends his title and then fights another belt-holder.
That news was all over this site for quite sometimes, now it's not true according to some Russian websire.
****.
Anyway there was an article that Maskaev is planning to fight next in Moscow, against the number 11 WBC rated contender maybe that's the voluntary defense that they are talking about.Comment

maskaev will be fighting in russia sometime in december against some number 12 rated bum in the wbc named peter kohle with a record od 18-4 16kos, the wbc gave maskaev an optional defense if it is before the end of the year....Comment

I dont think Toney's the best p4p boxer, but he's the best HW right now, I still have my doubt on WladOriginally posted by NautilusRahman beat Toney and Maskaev beat Rahman.
Toney is the best boxer P4P, but he is not the best HW boxer.Comment

This news was on b*****talk.com but the're known to print horse**** once in a while, so I'll wait for something official. Maskaev is just trying to cash in on his title and make some $$$ before he retires (or Peter retires him). I think he made it pretty clear that he will not fight Peter and will probably retire after his defense.Comment
