Mayweather Speaks on De La Hoya-Trinidad

Even though Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is set to face WBC welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir in November, he is still being asked about facing Oscar De La Hoya next May, in what is scheduled to be Oscar's final bout before retirement. [details]

It never ceases to amaze me how arrogant Floyd is. He says "if Oscar wants to make great money,he'll have to come my way". Floyds's so damn arrogant that he doesn't even realize that at this point in Oscar's career this fight is not about money, and Oscar doesn't need Floyd to make big money. Floyd will never see the kind of money Oscar will bring without him though. Floyd needs Oscar more than Oscar needs Floyd.

This is a great fight for boxing, & a great way for DLH to end his career, win, lose, or draw, but If Mayweather & DLH keep letting their egos run wild & one decides that he's just too good to fight the other then it'll be a huge mistake. **** money, do it for Boxing in general

They both are being real ****y about this fight but like I said This fight happening would be the best thing for boxing as a whole, not just for these 2 fighters.

          It's just a pissing contest.

We all know Oscar wants the crack at Floyd for his swan songs because there's a chance (a small one) he could beat the top pound for pound fighter and then retire. That would be HUGE for his already historic legacy.

But Oscar throws out talk of Tito to remind Floyd he's the top dog and can make more money than Floyd will ever see at the blink of an eye.

But what does it do for Oscar to beat a retired Tito? If he does anything less than Winky did, it's not much to write about. If he loses again, thats needless sting.

Floyd's got a big ego, and wants to play up like he doesn't really care, when we all can tell by the $$ in his eyes that he does.

Just a pissing contest before they negotiate early next year.

Im not to sure that Oscar would make more money fighting Mayweahter then he would if he fought Trinidad. Trinidad gets bigger #'s on PPV then Mayweather.

isnt that the truth, I mean there was more buys for the ****ing pathetic Mayorga DLH fight than Mayweather has ever had and Mayweather is supposed to be the best pound 4 pound fighter in the world meaning he should be known and be a draw but he's not even close.

did u not read the whole article, I could of swore he said Oscar is oscar and will make $$, but if he wants the most $$ and a real challenge, then he would have to fight him! Dude u be hatin on Floyd when their is nothing to even hate about. Floyds is right, if Oscar wants a challenge, then Floyd is that challenge not Tito. If u want to be mad, be mad at the reporter who asked him the ??, why arent they asking more about his fight with Baldomir which is actually about to happen.

the real question is why is the boxing public still stuck on fighters that had their time and out of their prime. Any other sport supports or backs their best and forces it down our throats if neccessary. Only boxing and the boxing media still chase after past fighters, and that is one of the reasons why Boxing as a sport is struggling right now.

Fighting Trinidad is a lose-lose situation for Oscar, If he wins, he beat a guy who Winky recently beat and won nearly every round, if he loses, hurts his legacy even more. Floyd is undefeated and #1 P4P Fighter and a better competition.
