Morales would have stopped Hamed at 126. Hamed chose to fight Barrera at 126 instead of Morales because he felt Barrera was the most beatable of the two. Turns out even the most beatable of the two was not beatable enough for him.
He was found wanting at an elite level... thats just the truth.Comment

I think at the time Barrera was the bigger name and the obvious choice.Comment

That poster who said Barrera and Morales ducked Hamed is just laughable
I've read several articles in the past that Hamed ducked Marquez. Is there any proof to this? If that's true, then it's a smart decision for the Prince because Marquez would've schooled him worse than MAB did.Comment

I really dont want to stereotype... but talking to Americans and Mexicans about Naseem Hamed is basically pointless. Thats the only truth.
I expect a reaction for what I said... but its obvious that Americans who lean towards supporting humble, exciting fighters like MAB and Morales, rather than Naseem Hamed, are going to react predictably. Equally Mexicans are going to show bias in favour of anyone else, other than Hamed, no matter who they are.
I quoted Larry Merchant as describing Marquez as an up and coming fighter, a baby in the game... in 1998. That basically summarises the whole Marquez debate really. But nope, im arguing with extremely biased fans who will repeat "he ducked Marquez" over and over without entering into any other train of thought.Comment

But im sure the fact that most thought Barrera beat Morales in their first fight gave him the edge.Comment

Hamed's fight with Barrera was his test to see if he was an Elite Fighter, and he failed it miserably.
That was the truth. Hamed didnt belong at the Morales, Barrera, Marquez level.Comment

Barrera, Morales and Marquez didnt belong in Hamed's league in 1995/6/7/8/9 really. Argue that.Comment
