But in boxing is different than footbal if you could fight then you contiune but if you cant the ref stops.

and I though that Taylor could fight for 2 sec and he was okay and stood up at cout of 6 as well as shook his head when he was asked if he is alright that is enough for a person to say he is able to fight

Yeah he did ask Meldrick are you ok twice. He should have let Meldrick continue but Meldrick said nothing when Steele asked him. His focus was somewhere else. Lou Duva jumped up when Meldrick had stood up. Meldrick may have been looking at his corner. I think they should have let it continue though. Also Steele should have an idea of how much time is left in the round. It wouldn't be such a sad story if Meldrick Taylor didn't end up the way he did.

Both men fought a good fight but I think Chavez wasnt at his best on that night, Great knockdown and if you look at Taylors eyes he was gone, and Anyway Chavez showed in the second fight what he could do

I just watched the 12th round and taylor looked just as ****ed as gerald mclellan did after benn put him down, he was constantly whincing before and during the last round. If the ref really was unaware of the time, it was a good stoppage.

The ref is NOT the time keeper.

Steele did a brilliant job by not giving a **** that it was the last round, or who was ahead on points, he stopped the fight because Taylor wasnt fit to continue.

              Amazing comeback by Chavez.

2 seconds left. imagine if it wasn't stopped, what more could have happened? NONE. no more blows could have exchanged and both fighters will have just walked back to their corners, no more knockdowns.

there was a clapper for the 10seconds reminder, and there was the red light at the post behind taylor which steele couldn't have probably missed. taylor was good to go again but must have been looking at lou duva when steele asked him the Qs because when he looked back at steele stopping the fight, he vehemently resented the call.

and i think if you fought a good winning fight you deserve those 2 seconds. 2 seconds where NOTHING could have happened anymore.
