In my opinion Toney should be given a chance to fight for one of the heavyweight titles.. He can compete with and beat any of them. Some people don't like James Toney because of his mouth but you have to admit the man can back it up... This is going to be a double edged sword for Toney because now the other champions have seen how good he is and will now avoid him like the plague.. And since he lost the last fight, on paper anyways, he's lost some leverage to gain a title shot. He might have no choice but to take what is given to him. Toney is a guy that is not afraid to fight the best in the division that is pretty clear on taking the Peter fight.

If anything good comes out of this bull**** decision, I hope that it's Toney deciding to get real serious about training and gets into shape so there would be no way to rob him again, I say **** Peters and go for a shot at a HW belt, then retire.

as far as the 4 champions, he could probably only outpoint the slow and cumberson Valuev. besides him, its clear from the ruling in the peter fight that the power and relative accuracy of the other 3 will prove too much for him.

The other champions are now going to avoid Toney because he has ****ty stamina, horrible balance and even Peter, who isn't known for his straight punching, was able to control him at times with his jab?

I would favor Valuev over Toney at this point.

Honestly, would Valuev even touch Toney?

Well Peter sure touched him with his jab and Valuev is much, much rangier and a better boxer, so why not?

From what I have seen from him he looks really slow. Not that I expected a 7 foot boxer to be agile.

But who should Toney fight next?
Should he face another top 10 fighter or just go straight for a world title against any of the Eastern European champs?
                  How would he do against?

After two unsatisfactory fight results I seriously doubt that Toney would ever be given a crack at those title. Unless of course the money offer is irresistable.

But just for the sake of arguement I'm giving Toney a fair chance against Maskaev and Liakhovich. Against Wlad and Valuev? I'll say he's a dead meat.

Toney should fight someone like Sultan Ibragimov, a fighter who is smaller than him and he can look good against and possibly KO.

Toney gets good name recognition by beating Ibragimov and looks good doing too.

I'm not so sure Toney would beat Ibragimov, who is for one thing actually bigger than him (6'2" to 5'9"), and also very quick, strong, and skilled offensively.

I think Toney is better off trying to get a fight with a guy like Brock, Brewster (as long as he realizes he won't be able to stop Brewster and to try would be a waste of energy) or a rematch with Rahman.
