i do want to say this though, i was truly impressed with his demolition of Jeff Lacy, and it seems to me fighting Bika is a step back and not forward toward immortality

those are some big names he's spitting out, how is he going to talk about these fighters and in his return he's fighting sakio bika?

To clarify: as stated, those were names put to him by the writers of Boxing Monthly.

Though isn't Bika a mandatory or something? I can handle Bika as he's been out for seven months, had bad hands and it was late in the day to find opponents. Most of the available guys were busy.

But he needs to speed up...

Calzaghe is the man in boxing as far as I'm concerned. He's the best in his class, and in all waters near it, and he can conduct himself well outside of boxing and give a good interview. If only something could be done about his hands.

You know, I remember a few years back when everyone on the internet was calling him a paper champion and saying how he'd get plastered by the first American super middleweight he fought. I wonder where those guys are now.

I don't know what you guys see in him. First off, ya he beat Lacy, but dang any real boxing fan who knows boxing can tell that Lacy is a one dimensional fighter with no great boxer on his resume. He was a very overly hyped fighter to begin with. I myself new he didn't have nothing special ever since he fought a guy name the Alien. The Alien was very slow, but he was still outboxing lacy with his slow foot speed and hands. All Lacy would do is come in straight and throw his hooks. Anyone with good movement and boxing skills and doesn't get scared can easily beat Lacy. Which Joe did. He gets props for beating a super overhyped one dimensional fighter. Lacy was never great and Joe is not great as well. Hes a good fighter but not great.

I did. But I got told I was saying it "just because I'm a Brit". It's strange - I'm not sucking my own **** or anything here - but I look back at all the times I call boxing how I see it. This year alone I've had wins on the Judah upset, the Winky-Taylor draw, The Joe Blow win, the Baldomir win over Gatti, plus more... yet apparently Brits can't see the "big picture". LOL.

He tried to get fights against the likes of Hopkins and Roy, but they weren't interested in taking on a dangerous southpaw with no real standing. Credit to Lacy for taking him on.

Calzaghe wasn't really interested in fighting any of those guys until they were past their best.

Shortly after Jones beat Ruiz, there was an interview with Calzaghe where he pretty much said that he was glad Roy Jones had moved to heavyweight because it meant that Joe wouldn't have to fight him and that he always knew he had no chance against Jones who he considered to be by far the best fighter in the world.

Only after Jones got stopped by Tarver did Calzaghe even start mentioning his name.

its kind of ridiculous to hear him talk about Jones now like he isn't worthy when he was absolutely terrified of him 3 years ago.

Calzaghe has flushed his own career down the toilet by fighting a string of nobodies and refusing to leave the comfort of his hometown and letting big fight after big fight slip away.

The best name on his resume is Jeff Lacy, who was really unproven at the time anyways.

We'll never know how good Joe really is until he takes on a proven p4p fighter, which it looks like he has no interest in doing. (A fight with Clinton Woods doesn't count).
