Steve (two Pounds) Forbes, Real deal?

Last nights episode of The Contender showcased a pretty descent match with Steve Forbes and Nick Acevedo. They didn't have much time to rest since there last fight and put on a pretty good show. My question is does Two Pounds have what it takes to make it? (he was the IBF title holder at 130lbs)

Forbes can be a good, successful fighter for a while but he shouldn't be fighting at Welterweight.

      BINGO.

I was explaining to my dad that fighters like Forbes and Ebo Elder had no business fighting at Welterweight. While Steve might have the skills to make it to the championship I don't think he'll win. I'd pick Walter Wright to beat Forbes.

I thought along the same lines when I saw him on the show, He's just not a big enough guy, What happened to his career at 130?
          He's got skills.

I'd imagine they'd head back down there after the show finishes.
I guess they figured they could out-hustle the bigger guys in the 5 round fights and take a shot at the 500,000 dollars.

Forbes can do things at 135, thats a division that its main player will be Juan Diaz. But then to get the other titles he'd have to go through the other Diazs, in Julio and David Diaz. But, once Corrales leaves -Castillo is already done at 135- then their will be no more power punchers to deal with, giving Forbes a better chance at a title shot.

147 is all wrong for Stevie Forbes and so is 140, though he can also make some waves for awhile at 140 as a contender but once he gets tagged like Freddy Curiel tagged him he may get ko'd, so the best weight for Forbes is 135.

i think its hilarious to say a guy is too small for 147, ive been watching the little league world series and the starting pitcher for the japanese team (12 years old) was 5'9 145, i was thinkin to myself "damn, thats diego corrales size right there"

Steve Forbes won his first world title in December of 2000 with a TKO over John Brown who could not continue because of a ruptured eardrum. In a rematch with Brown, Forbes won a clear cut decision to take any question away about his title. Forbes has very little power, but relies on his solid boxing skills and bulldog style to wear down his opponent. For some reason, Forbes did not fight for almost a year, and then lost his title by not being able to make weight in his title defense against David Santos. Forbes came into the ring at 152 pounds, no where near the Junior Lightweight limit. Forbes won a very close split decison, but the belt was vacated. Forbes heart has to be questioned and recently resurfaced in the Lightweight division, but says he will get a title shot next at Junior Lightweight.
