Briggs blasts Finkle - "Klitschko, he's a ****in ****"

This thread is filled a gazillion people who are all missing the point. The point is that Finkel assured Briggs they had a deal, and then went out and pursued other fights - left the Briggs team hanging while using his (Briggs') name as leverage for the other stuff he was signing up. Finkel is a liar and a conniver who backstabbed Briggs, and now he's upset about it.

It has nothing to do with Briggs' boxing ability, his record, his past fights, whether he's overrated, blah, blah, blah. It has everything to do with honesty, integrity and professionalism in a sport that's sadly lacking all of the above. I know this last point is not news to anyone, but it's still sad...

No it shows that Briggs is a f'ing idiot and thought he had the cat in the bag without a signed contract.

SB - Well I wanted to sign with Don King for many years now, but the truth of the matter is that I wasn't ready to. This was perfect timing for me because with Don having a piece of Valuev, and Serguei Lyakhovich I feel it was a good thing for him to have an American Heavyweight, and he agreed. People have a lot of negative things to say about Don King, first of all I think it's because he's a black man, and because he's a very successful black man. I hate to pull the race card, but it's a true fact of nature, it's just how it is. briggs, of course, using such careful words to express himself shows why he more than anybody deserves a shot at wlad's title.

I don't think anyone is really taking up for Finkel, or saying that he isn't a weasel. Of course, Finkel (like 99% of all boxing managers and promoters) is a weasel. Briggs knew that going in, and yeah Finkel told him "1000%" but he also made it public that he was negotiating with other fighters.

So yeah, what Finkel did was wrong, but the comments everyone is laughing at have nothing to do with Finkel, it's with:

1. Shannon calling Wlad a ****. Juvenile and ******ed.

2. Inferring King is some honest saint who's a victim of racism.

3. And for calling someone who has worked his way into legit title contention and who has beaten someone who he failed against, a "FLOP."

That's the point that you're missing.

I don't mind taking on that point either. If James Toney had said any or all of the above, everyone would be laughing their a$$ off and cheering him for taking on Finkel, Wlad, etc. So why the double standard?

I like Briggs - I think he's a decent guy who's been robbed (and sure the agreement was only verbal, but what happened to a person's word being their bond?), and now he's trying to publicize it. Maybe he doesn't deserve a title shot (though he's just as worthy as Toney was before he fought Ruiz), but he also doesn't deserve to be backstabbed, and then get taken to task for complaining about it.
