lol, there soooo many things wrong with what briggs says i dont know where to begin...
"People have a lot of negative things to say about Don King, first of all I think it's because he's a black man, and because he's a very successful black man."
- lol, yeah like byrd, holyfield and all the other former king fighters that have sued him and talked bad about him are racist
"the Shelly Finkels of the world are destroying boxing."
- how? by giving a ranked, undefeated, deserving contender a shot at the title instead of an undeserving, unranked one
"now they are fighting Calvin Brock or Calvin FLOP,"
- at least brock has earned his title shot, unlike briggs... and brock may not sell alot of tickets, but he did beat the guy briggs could not, mccline
i feel for briggs that he was strung along while, oleg/rock was the real
opponent they wanted, but:
1. he didnt lose anything, he still signed with king and will get his shot
2. he's still undeserving of a title shot
3. he's beaten nothing bums and journeymen
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to guru again.
I was pretty surprised by the turn of events after the Rahman-Maskaev fight; I thought after reading all the boxing news, that the Briggs-Klitschko fight was a pretty much done deal.
I don't blame Shannon for being pissed and blasting Finkle and Klitschko.
On the upside, if Briggs fights and wins the WBO title from Liakhovich, this may set up a "grudge match" and unification bout against Klitschko in 2007.
lol dude Briggs seriously wants that title shot say what you want about briggs skills the fact is serious about becoming the champ he would never be afraid of somebody like wlad.
naw,,,,why would he be afraid of wlad. not like he's been knocked out by 215 lb monsters like darrol wilson
Briggs punches no harder than Peter, Klitschko, Liakahovic, Brewster, Valuev, Maskaev, or Sultan Ibragimov.
So let's not get harping on his power.
Those guys I don't think will be ducked even though they hit arguably harder than he does.
I agree. briggs power is so overrated its laughable. he's never been able to stop a top 15 guy. getting his power rep off feasting on class c and below opponents
Ill have to disagree with you there.
Brock has really nothing that could cause Wlad problems.
Wlad is bigger, stronger, the better boxer and has more KO power.
Briggs is a tougher fight than Brock. (For Wlad, anyways)
ok briggs is not very good, but you don't know **** about boxing if u can't admit that Briggs has both hand speed and great power. and btw if u think that the young and not devoted briggs who fought foreman is the same briggs today your not too smart. All im saying briggs has is great hand speed+power and every1 knows that means danger for wlad.
if he has "great power" why couldnt he put a dent in top 15 guys he's lost to. he drew with botha who was knocked out by moorer,,tyson,,lewis..klitschko and was dominated by mcline who was stopped by klitschko and hurt against brock. hell hes lost to friggin sedrick fields,,lol. briggs is big and strong but not a huge puncher.brock is a much better fighter and throws his punches shorter. I give wlad a lot of credit for taking on brock after briggs decided to go sign with king
did you see that fight? foreman got so robbed it wasnt funny
I think that alot of fighters at some point in their career are "robbed" of a fight or are given a "gift decision." This fight just happened to be that, and as a result, Briggs got the "W" on his record.
You could make an argument that George Foreman got several gift decisions in his career against Axel Schultz and Alex Steward( notice the fighters first names, coincidince, maybe ).
BT - Briggs so the day just came when you got tired of waiting around, and threw your hands up ?
SB - Well I wanted to sign with Don King for many years now, but the truth of the matter is that I wasn't ready to. This was perfect timing for me because with Don having a piece of Valuev, and Serguei Lyakhovich I feel it was a good thing for him to have an American Heavyweight, and he agreed. People have a lot of negative things to say about Don King, first of all I think it's because he's a black man, and because he's a very successful black man. I hate to pull the race card, but it's a true fact of nature, it's just how it is. Don King has made many champions, and he has made a lot of money for a lot of guys over the years, Tyson, Holyfield, Byrd. The timing is right for me, I am physically ready, and I am an American Heavyweight that can bring home one of the crowns.
