i know a guy who has slurred speech to this day cuz he fell off a scaffold he was building and bumped his head. what a way to get punchy.

there are plenty of lines of work more dangerous than both boxing and mma, and, really...Far more dangerous, depending on how good you are defensively at either sport

Why are poeple saying that the punches in MMA have to be harder since the gloves are smaller? A professional boxer will hit MUCH harder than anyone who isnt, **** the size of the glove.

There is NO WAY ANY MMA fighter hits nearly as hard as any boxer in the same weight. That's just total crap.

Boxing has better athletes and a legitimate amateur system to determine who the top fighters are before turning professional rather than guys that fight in the MMA shows that are unregulated and they are unproven alot of the time before earning a legitmate contract in the UFC or Pride

Yeah I wasn't fully aware before I voted.

Boxing is easily more dangerous.....and more deaths result from excessive trauma to the brain.

But as far as "Hard" I really don't know how you'd claim boxing is "Harder". MM artists are trained in submissions as well as striking. The application of moves and using leverage plus strength takes training and conditioning.

Boxing is "Better" in my opinion......and I'm more a fan of Boxing.

I was under the impression that you were referring to who'd beat who in a street fight.....like every other thread.

              MMA cripples boxer every time.

                Yeah.

And they're using 3 oz gloves as opposed to 10 or 12.

Dangerous: I would go with boxing because theres more of a chance of death or brain injury. There is a chance of that in MMA but its less, there is however more of a chance you can get a broken arm or something while grappling.
Harder: Both are equally hard. Boxers are experts at just boxing, thats all they do. MMAers have to be well rounded in several things so they have to be good at a bunch of different things.
Better. I personally like kickboxing, boxing, and then MMA but the more you understand the ground fighting the less gay it will seem and the more you will enjoy it.

Boxing is rougher on the body, hands down. About mma gloves causing more injuries: they do allow more injuries, but they are 'light' stuff like cuts and broken noses. The heavier boxing gloves allow for way more concussive trauma.

While both athletes are in great shape, it is HARD to breathe when underneath a good grappler. No amount of running, tradmills, jumping rope will prepare you for that.

All in all, if I had to pick the 'tougher' athletes, I would say boxers though.
