So, is Quintana's manager saying that he would fight Cotto instead of Urkal, even if it's not for a title? It seems like that's what he said.

Maybe they can convince Urkal to take on the winner.

say what you guys want but cotto is praying not to fight quintana..
quintana has good boxings skills and a good defense.. i dont see cotto being that effective in the inside because quintana is a smart fighter.. hell keep the distance and use his handspeed..

Quintana looked very good against Julio, a guy who doesn't know how to cut the ring off, Cotto does. Also, Julio spent the whole night trying to land one big shot, Cotto jabs good and is effective coming in and out. I don't think Quintana's speed woudl be a factor here.

They're not going to be matched against eachother yet as there is a bundle of money to be made from both of them individually. Arum is going to milk Cotto until he is dry, and Quintana's manager is going to do the same to Quintana. This kid just be a top contender in Julio. There is no way this fight will happen in the next few years. They are to marketable to risk at this point.

Even though Cotto is a southpaw, he fights as a righty, I really haven't seen Cotto fighting as a southpaw which leads me to believe that he probably doesn't have the skill as a southpaw that he does as a righty. Quintana = trouble for Cotto.

Dude, why do you have to be such a big **** about it? LOL.

Cotto has switched SP against a few fighters (Lovemore N'Dou for one) but only for parts of a round. I don't think he'd be at a disadvantage because his straight right would land all night and would help him set up his left hook.

Also, Cotto can cut the ring off, unlike Julio, and is a very good combo puncher.

and quintana's style is wierd. he kinda slaps that jab out there but its not quite a back-hand... and i think he's a southpaw as well. he'd give any fighter trouble IMO
which fight? Quintana-Urkal? because Quintana-Julio was as one-sided as it gets really

Quintana earn his right to fight for the vacated wba title. Arum knows that urkal is a very easy opponant for cotto thats why he wants cotto to fight urkal instead of quintana. And funny arum didn't want quintana to fight margarito either hmm i wonder why?.

Quintana’s manager said in an interview with endi.com that his fighter won’t step aside to let Cotto fight Urkal for the WBA Welter title on December 2nd…

“the first offer from Top Rank was sent to us two weeks ago…They offer to put Quintana in the same card as Cotto and Margarito on December 2nd against a bum for a good purse, we didn’t accept that offer because Quintana wants to fight for the belt”

“Then this Wednesday they offered us some money plus the agreement to fight the winner of Urkal-Cotto…Our response was the same, that if they wanted to find an opponent for Cotto for December 2nd, the only thing they need to do is look for him in Moca (Quintana’s hometown)”
                    .....................

Oh ****, Quintana callin out Cotto! I'm a huge Cotto fan, but that would be a very dangerous opponent for Cotto's WW debut.

I don't see any problem here, then just let Cotto fight Quintana instead of Urkal.

Very DANGEROUS opponent? So what? Cotto needs to fight his way up if he wants to be on top.
