I never thought about it. Doesn't he get fired a lot by boxers he is training? It seems like his fighters leave him for a different trainer a lot.

Booth should have taught kelly how to avoid close range and how to tie up on the inside better. How to control range with his jab and feet to slow down the pace and not get broken down over the rounds.

Requirement for inside fighting is a mix of top level durability, a good chin and asolid gas tank.

Kelly is not made for a war. He is too fragile, lacks power and fades too quickly. The thing he should have try his best to avoid is getting into exchanges with avanesyan.
Wlad is a giant & tall boxers don’t have the physical attributes to be good inside fighters. You can see how trash Fury looks every time he tries to fight on the inside. The only two anomaly (for guys over 6’5) are Lennox & AJ due to how Lennox throws his uppercut & AJ with his short hooks.

With tall fighters - you teach them to grab on the inside & use their physical tools, especially their reach to win on the outside.

Josh Kelly is 5’10, so he should have a good inside game, especially for his weight class. David Haye was the same under Booth, he also had no inside game.

But I will say this? Booth seems to prefer to work with a certain style of fighter 'And likes his fighters implementing specific tactics'.

He does not really seem be on prolonged inside fighting, all phase attacks and ambush tactics.
Only Peter Fury can lay claims to being good. The rest are trash.

        Adam Booth is trash!

Yep... every booth fighter ends up ravaged by injuries. His training methods aren’t sustainable.

Look at Haye, Groves and Burnett.

Fighters lose it's not the end of the world. less than 1% of fighters end their career undefeated.

Shane McGuigan, Mark Tibbs and Dominic Ingle are the best three pro trainers in the UK.

Gallagher also has a good track record but is one dimensional. His fighters always tend to fall short at the highest level.

Peter Fury deserves a lot of credit for Tyson but his resume really isn’t that deep outside of that.

Booth is a good tactician but he tries to mould all his fighters the exact same way. His training methods clearly cause negative long term effects on the body too.

An argument can be made about Ingle but McGuigan & Tibbs are unproven.

Apart from Josh Taylor who I think benefits immensely from a very weak division - who else has McGuigan trained that’s successful? Isn’t he the same guy who was taking selfies with Ryan Garcia like a groupie after his fighter quitted? He needs more to show he’s more than just a fitness trainer.

Tibbs hasn’t done anything apart from Dillian Whyte who isn’t a great boxer. The only thing Whyte has is his left hook.

Peter Fury did well with Tyson & made him a world champion. And he’s doing a great job with Savannah Marshal & Hughie.

He’s a good trainer but he is heavily invested in his fighters career in more than a training capacity some of the time. He is pretty much like the matchmaker and manager too.

When that’s the case, it often leads to him having to sell a fighter to the public, which can sometimes overhype the fighter.

                  But so what?

at the end of the day, he had a fighter that he believed could win the fight and he didn’t. Every trainer has wins and losses and believes in their fighter. It’s not really a huge deal.

He believed in Josh Kelly as a talent and I don’t think anybody can watch Josh Kelly and say he doesn’t have some talent. But until the fighter really gets pressured like that, nobody knows how they can handle it.

The Ingle gym is arguably the best in the UK. They developed champions since they were like 8 years old. A lot of trainers inherit fighters when they’re already kind of established but the Ingle gym has taken a lot of fighters from being children to world level fighters.

Peter Fury is good, But let’s not forget he wasn’t even training Tyson at the start of his pro career. His uncle Hughie was his trainer before he died. Tyson had already been a solid amateur and good domestic level pro before Peter even took over. Peter was in back jail when Tyson was turning pro and coming through the ranks
